CMS must ensure eligible patients do not lose coverage and avoid shifting new paperwork and eligibility duties onto physician practices. Family physicians’ time should be spent caring for patients, not navigating unnecessary administrative burdens: aafp.org/media-center/aafp-s…

Nashville, ya’ll! What an incredible week for family medicine! As we wrap up @aafp Family Medicine Experience (FMX) 2026, I’m leaving Nashville inspired, energized, optimistic about the future of family medicine. FMX is more than a conference. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, exchange ideas, advance our knowledge, celebrate our profession, and reaffirm the purpose that called us to family medicine. And because we were in Music City, I even had the opportunity to learn to play the drums! I’m not quite ready to join a band, but it was a great reminder that there’s always something new to learn. To the thousands of family physicians, residents, students, speakers, exhibitors, and partners who joined us, thank you! Your passion, engagement, and commitment to improving the health of patients and communities are what make FMX such a special experience. To Team AAFP, thank you for the extraordinary work that went into making this week possible. Your dedication to our members and our mission was evident in every detail. To @RichRedmond, thank you for hosting our Main Stage and bringing energy and entertainment to our event. To the City of Nashville, the @OmniHotels Nashville and @musiccitycenter- thank you. The city showed out and your partnership in our events allowed us to bring this incredible event to life for our members and attendees. We face real challenges in health care, but gatherings like FMX remind me of the strength, resilience, and extraordinary potential of our discipline. The future of family medicine is bright because of the people who are shaping it every day. Thank you, Nashville, for an unforgettable week. See you at FMX 2027 - sunny San Diego!

When Dr. Frank Domino said, "family physicians have the most fun," he wasn't lying. 😎 From rockin' out on Main Stage to making connections in the Xchange, #AAFPFMX has been about community, innovation and paving the way for the future of family medicine. If you're in Nashville with us, what are you excited to take home with you?

Yesterday, we left inspired. Today, we put in the work. 👏 Your patients are dealing with a flood of information, the rise of AI and uncertainty. Today, we discussed reframing how we think about AI as a tool in practice and how to be effective science communicators. Family physicians continue to be the most trusted voices in health care. By making clear recommendations to your patients and answering their questions with empathy, we can help restore confidence in science.

Today, @kishadavismd reminded us to "be bold, be brave, move to the front of the room." Because sometimes simply showing up and sitting in the front row leads to big things — and that's exactly what family physicians did today. You showed up. You elected new leaders at the Congress of Delegates. You learned new ways to meet your patients' needs. And you showed up for each other. We can't wait to do it all again tomorrow.

Earlier today, I delivered my annual address to the @aafp Congress of Delegates. It is an honor to lead this organization and represent the nations family physicians. I shared the work we have done, the work we must do and charted a course for the future of family medicine. But, importantly, I also acknowledged the strain our members are under: "Family physicians have never been more strained, yet family medicine has never been more essential. You are being asked to carry greater responsibility with fewer resources—to solve problems you did not create and navigate systems you did not design. And still, every day, you show up. But let me be clear: your commitment cannot become an excuse for the system’s failure. We cannot praise your resilience while tolerating the conditions that make your resilience necessary. Our responsibility is not simply to describe these conditions. It is to change them. This is why the work of the AAFP matters. Family medicine is not a problem our health care system must solve. Family medicine is the solution our nation must finally choose to support."
