API completely agrees that we have to take steps to protect minors and stop predatory industries. While the passage of the App Store Accountability Act marked a significant step towards protecting children, there is more work to do to prevent addiction-peddling industries from gaining a foothold in our state.

If you have memories of walking to school, riding your bicycle around the neighborhood, and playing outside with friends unsupervised as a child, you likely consider these hallmarks of a happy and healthy childhood.
While Alabama’s current legal definition of neglect includes inadequate supervision, it does not clearly distinguish between ordinary childhood activities like these and situations that constitute inadequate supervision, creating uncertainty for both parents and the state.
Clearly defining inadequate supervision in child protection rules and relevant criminal provisions would give parents and authorities clearer guidance while allowing children the freedom to experience a normal childhood.
Reasonable, age-appropriate independence should not, by itself, constitute neglect, while the law should continue to protect children from genuinely dangerous situations.

Alabama county school systems should have the flexibility to consider consolidation when local leaders believe it could better align resources with student needs.

API is working to secure protections for women in shelters, mental health facilities, and prisons, including female-only sleeping quarters, bathrooms, showers, and changing areas.
These provisions would help safeguard women’s privacy, safety, and dignity in Alabama.

A 2023 NCAA national survey found that 58% of respondents aged 18–22 had participated in at least one sports betting activity, while 16% had engaged in at least one “risky” betting behavior, including frequent betting, large wagers, or heavy losses.
Gambling—whether through sports betting, the lottery, casinos, or online platforms—has no place in Alabama.

While it is true that some legislators and liberal nonprofit organizations have been pushing for a grocery tax cut since the 1990s, they refused to cut the tax without replacing it with a reciprocal tax increase of some kind.
Eliminating the remaining 2% state sales tax on groceries has emerged as easy fodder on the campaign trail for candidates trying to show they’re serious about addressing affordability.

It is deeply troubling to see Americans brazenly assaulted and forcefully removed from a public place simply for expressing an idea. (Let alone such a mainstream idea as “Save Women's Sports”!)
When it comes to the long-term preservation of liberty, culture matters. The prevailing ideas of ordinary people will inevitably shape our courts, legislatures, and laws.
And what’s happening in Portland is not a culture of free speech.
A free-speech culture allows both sides of an issue to be heard, not just one. A free-speech culture responds to words with words, not with violence and forceful silencing. A free-speech culture doesn’t reflexively equate disagreement with hatred.
The culture festering in Portland looks less like American liberty and more like totalitarianism. We should take it seriously.
This isn’t just a story about women’s sports. It’s a cultural contest about the totalitarian impulse to redefine reality—and the future of free speech itself.
I was just forcefully removed from a @ThornsFC game for the crime of wearing an @xx_xyathletics t-shirt. I am in shock. We peacefully wore our shirts. We were assaulted by fans. Then WE were forced to leave – with FORCE by stadium security. I am utterly in shock.
