Red pandas are famous for their climbing abilities, and our three female cubs are already pros! 👏 Red panda fibula and tibia bones are attached in a way that lets the fibula rotate about its axis, helping them to climb downwards. 🐾 #YourZooYYC

Our male northern rockhopper penguin Ashley is 18 today! 🎉 Rockhoppers know how to get the attention of others – not only do they have loud vocalizations, but they also shake those iconic yellow feathers to attract a mate. 💛 Wish Ashley a happy hatchday! 🐧 #YourZooYYC

Our African crested porcupine dad Bristle is 14 today! 🎊 We can't stop admiring Bristle's fabulous sweep of guard hair. 😍 They help porcupines determine the direction of a threat so they can raise their quills and move backwards defensively. 🦔 #YourZooYYC

It's #NationalPumpkinDay! 🎃 Last week our male polar bears had giant pumpkins delivered to the Taylor Family Foundation Polar Bear Sanctuary for some enrichment that had everyone totally pumped. Our polar bear Yellé did the cracking, while Siku did the snacking! 😆 #YourZooYYC
