Today we're celebrating Malcolm Sowerby, who has completed the Chester 10K, Half Marathon and Metric Marathon in 2026 β achieving his goal of earning another Triple medal.
His connection with Chester began when his daughter asked him to join her at the Half Marathon and he's been returning to Chester races most years since 2014.
Running has become a family affair β his wife joins the final stretch of his longer training runs, while last yearβs Chester 10K saw Malcolm, his daughter and his grandson taking part together π
This year, Malcolm finished the Metric Marathon in 3 hours 12 minutes, just two minutes slower than his time in 2019. Seven years older. Almost the same time. Another Chester Triple completed. π
But for Malcolm, itβs also about getting outside, staying active and being grateful to keep doing something he enjoys.
His advice to anyone wondering whether to give running a go?
βIf you donβt try, you will never know.β
Huge congratulations, Malcolm!
