One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up. So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us." Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026. There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true. But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone. Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were: 1) End the war 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation 3) Put America First 4) Change our relationship to Israel Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.) In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you. The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there. I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

Drove all the way to my local polling place and there was literally nowhere on my ballot to vote against a 24 team College Football Playoff and a 76 team NCAA Basketball Tournament. Had to write it all in

It has been a nasty and disappointing midterm election campaign, and few will be unhappy to see the end of it. The irrational and almost sociopathic hatred of President Trump, even in ostensibly Republican circles, reveals less about Trump than about the intellectually corrupt and mediocre Republican Party whose headship he seized ten years ago. The Democrats have been reduced to an incoherent pantomime horse of anti-American extremists and exhausted hacks. More disappointing is that surviving Reaganites are so hostile to Trump that they serenely overlook the blight of wokeness, the bottomless corruption in places like Minnesota, and the ambition to turn the United States into a one-party state. They want his last election to be a “rout,” in Peggy Noonan’s words, so they can return to business as usual. It won't be. Trump has produced strong and rising economic growth, cut taxes, drastically deregulated, closed the border, deported over two million illegal entrants, mortally assaulted DEI, and prevented Iran from becoming a nuclear power. He has done the last at a cost of fewer combat deaths than occur every couple of weeks in many Democratically governed American cities. His methods are irksome at times, and his public personality is an acquired taste. But he has pierced the pomposity and complacency of the bipartisan system he displaced. He has been a very effective president.

Amazing.
In thousands of Japanese neighborhoods, if you walk into a local community kitchen at dinnertime, you will see a wooden board on the wall covered in colorful paper tickets. Each ticket was paid for in advance by a stranger on their way home from work. A hungry child can pull one ticket off the wall and exchange it for a hot, home-cooked dinner with zero questions asked. This movement is called Kodomo Shokudo, or Children's Cafeterias. It started in 2012 when Hiroko Kondo, a Tokyo greengrocer, learned that a neighborhood child was eating only a single banana after school while his parents worked late. Today, according to the national network Musubie, over 9,000 volunteer-run cafeterias operate across Japan, outnumbering the country's middle schools. To make sure no child ever feels singled out as poor, any kid in town is welcome to eat for free or 100 yen. Adults buy pay-it-forward tickets and write little notes on them like: Eat well tonight, and good luck on your math test.

Once upon a time Bush, Cornyn, Miller, Rove, and Crenshaw told us party loyalty was more important than anything else. Now they’re actively campaigning against the new leaders of the Texas GOP. They never cared about you. They just wanted power.

Descendants of the chief who inspired the "Washington Redskins" logo accuse the football team of trying to erase them, call for a meeting with President Trump to get the name restored. The family of Chief Two Guns White Calf says they were never asked about the name change. "They tried to erase us, like we didn't exist anymore," said estate lead Kenneth Conway. The descendants say the Redskins logo brought their family pride, and they want the chief to be remembered. "They did not even ask our family for approval. They didn't ask for nothing from us. I mean, we literally got erased," said Brock Conway, as reported by WTVR. "We're hopeful for a meeting with President Trump in order to help get this pushed forward," said Morningstar Gopher. "There's a lot of diehard Redskins fans down in Washington, D.C. This would be a win-win, I think, for everybody. It would be a win-win for the family because it would be so honored and the history of their ancestor." The name was removed in 2020 because liberals thought it was a slur. The Washington Commanders are building a new stadium, which is set to open in 2030. Bring back the Redskins. It's time.

🚨 IT'S OFFICIAL: President Trump just ran through the Republican Party's 2026 PLATFORM and it's pure FIRE - Pass the No Invasion of Our Country Act, BANNING any future president from opening the border - A health care plan that stops payments to big rich insurance companies and gives the money directly to the people - End cashless bail - The death penalty for large-scale drug dealers, human traffickers, and anyone who k*lls a police officer - Pass the SAVE America Act, with voter ID and proof of citizenship - Make "no men in women's sports" permanent law - Ban transgender procedures on minors This is all maximum common sense. And it can ONLY get done if Trump keeps his trifecta How could anyone vote Democrat? 🇺🇸 15 DAYS!

Aikman is outstanding. There is a very close second: Greg Olsen.
Troy Aikman is the best color commentator in all sports. It would be a huge mistake for ESPN to let him go. The gap between him and the next guy, whoever that is, is notable. Joe Buck is great too. But he's better with Aikman.
