✅ We're in on permitting reform!
"We’re proud to endorse the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act, and we’re excited to mobilize our grassroots volunteers in full support," said CCL’s Executive Director Ricky Bradley.

The climate models of BAAJA are out and they show clear emissions reductions!
– Every model (from researchers, industry, and environmental groups) shows reduced power-sector emissions and/or reduced US emissions
Here's what the models say: 🧵
1. Rhodium: Their medium outcome finds that BAAJA would reduce US greenhouse gas emissions by 3% in 2040 compared to the baseline (preventing 107 million metric tons of CO2 in 2040)
– The broadest modeling so far — looks at total US emissions based on increased transmission, faster interconnection, and increased natural gas pipelines
2. Resources for the Future: Estimates BAAJA would reduce US power sector emissions by 15% in the near term and 6% in 2041 compared to the baseline (preventing 107 million metric tons of CO2 in 2041)
– Evaluates power sector emissions by modeling how more transmission, faster interconnection, and removing the current blocks on wind reduce emissions
3. C2ES/Greenline: Model finds a 9% reduction in power sector emissions in 2035 in the 4 modeled regions compared to the baseline (preventing 71 million metric tons of CO2 in 2035)
– Model looks at 4 regions that comprise 54% of US electricity demand, modeling how faster interconnection queue and increased interregional transmission decrease emissions
4. Solar Energy Industries Association (private model): SEIA reportedly finds a 20% reduction in US power sector emissions between 2028-2035
5. Natural Resources Defense Council: States that its model shows "modest power sector benefits" for reducing greenhouse gases (does not quantify oil and gas effects)
*No model covers every aspect of BAAJA. Rhodium's model looks at LNG pipelines, but does not model how LNG exports increase/decrease emissions abroad. RFF and C2ES look at power sector emissions only.
**There are also strong arguments for why the provisions in the bill that cannot be modeled are net-beneficial to clean energy and emissions (e.g. NEPA and NHPA 106 disproportionately affect clean energy). Topic for another thread!

Heatmap exclusive: New Rhodium analysis of the bipartisan permitting bill finds it reduces carbon emissions compared to status quo even in a worst case scenario
And before you ask, yes, the analysis includes data centers

Translation: More clean energy projects on the grid, cleaner air for our kids, and lower utility bills for you.
167 GW more solar capacity
51% less new natural gas capacity
20% lower power sector CO₂ emissions
Compared to current law, BAAJA delivers more clean power and less pollution.

Grateful our permitting bill keeps winning union support. We can build things again in this country and create good, family-supporting jobs in the process.
New from @jamepdx: Prominent unions, including the Teamsters, back the bipartisan permitting reform deal.
We've updated our action tool! cclusa.org/baaja-house
If the Bipartisan American Affordability & Jobs Act passes the Senate, it will go straight to the House. In anticipation, we’re talking to our representatives now. Send an email to support BAAJA’s advance through Congress.

Utah friends, I have a request for you: shoot @SenMikeLee a thank you note at this link.
Both of our senators are going to vote for this bill - that’s not in doubt. But legislators still need to hear from you and thank-yous are especially effective since they get so few of them.
Ask your senators to vote YES on the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act (BAAJA) today at cclusa.org/baaja

In order to meaningfully reduce emissions and address climate change, America has to update our permitting processes so we can build and connect clean energy faster.
This bill makes that possible.
The most important thing you can do for this critical permitting reform bill right now is let your senators know you support it. Ask them to vote in favor of BAAJA at cclusa.org/baaja ⬇️

Energy costs are too high, clean energy buildout is too slow, and our existing infrastructure is too outdated. The Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act is a real opportunity to change the status quo. We want to recognize Senators @SenWhitehouse, @SenatorHeinrich, @SenCapito, @SenMikeLee and their staff for the tireless work it took to get here! 🔗 dream.org/news-articles/amer…

✅ significantly reduce emissions
✅ accelerate clean energy deployment
✅ lower electricity costs

.@SenatorHeinrich is right:
Whether you’re liberal or conservative, you’ll like what our bipartisan permitting-reform bill will do for America.
If we want cheaper energy, we need permitting reform.
If we want to force data centers to pay their fair share and then some, we need permitting reform.
If we want to build out clean energy and the jobs that come with it, we need permitting reform.
And all of that reform is in our Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act.
Let’s get this done.

I couldn’t agree more! This bill will help projects of all types—including from different energy sources—be permitted and built. That means more American jobs and lower costs for consumers.
