Spot on
John Amaechi, "When you listen to this conversation, it's like the policy was make for the apocryphal kind of grotesque stereotype of what an immigrant is"
"Not for real actual people"
"Yes there are fraudsters in this world. Guess what, they're not just black and brown people coming to this country"
"I worked in the NHS for 10 years where migrants doing the jobs that many of us would find the most desirable did it with passion - we stood by as they protected our loved ones in their most vulnerable moment"
"And I'm not saying that that is the picture of all migrants too"
"But surely a more charitable picture than the fraudsters and the connivers, the criminals, somehow - as if we do not have them here in aplenty"
"Any time you look at a policy that starts to tell people coming here that they're only valuable if they make more than this amount of money, then all of us here should look out"
My view:
During the pandemic, we called them essential workers. We applauded them for caring for our parents, cleaning hospital wards and keeping the country going.
Now their wages are being used to question whether they contribute enough to deserve a future here.
Their contribution hasn’t diminished. Politicians have simply found it convenient to stop recognising it.
If someone earns too little while doing work our society depends on, perhaps the problem is how little we pay them. What a cruel response to underpaid care workers: we need you to look after our families, but your wages make you unworthy of settling alongside them.
John Amaechi’s warning should trouble everyone. Once a government starts measuring people’s worth by their salary, millions of us should wonder where that leaves us.
What price do you put on someone holding your mother’s hand through the night? And why would their payslip tell you whether they deserve to stay?

You probably don’t know this man, but you should.
Throughout the genocidal war, he devoted his time and energy to fighting the drug trade in Gaza, which was supported by Israel. Just a few days ago, Israel killed him by bombing his vehicle while he was on a mission to seize a shipment of drugs.
Israel bombed his home and killed his children (Ahmed 11& Rasha 10) yet he never gave up. He continued to resist in his own way.
After everything he endured, he remained a man of extraordinary courage, integrity, and determination.
His name was Arafat Alareer!
For 15 years, I had the privilege of knowing him. He was one of the finest men I have ever known.
May he rest in peace after years of tireless dedication and immense sacrifice.

My medical licence was suspended in November 2025. For 15 months. As a result of my advocacy for Palestine. At the behest of the UK pro-'israel' and zionist jewish lobby. Today, I had my second six-monthly review with the @gmcuk and @the_mpts.
For my submission, covering any updates since the last review in May 2026, I told the panel:
- 4,797 Palestinians have since been murdered by the jewish occupation in Gaza. 1,490 of them were children. That is 31%.
- Bombing and massacres occur daily.
- Palestinians continue to be held hostage, kidnapped, and tortured.
- 'israel' continues with impunity, without justice for the Palestinians or the British citizens they massacred.
The GMC counsel described me as 'unrepentant' in my social media activity, giving this as one reason to continue my suspension. I affirmed that I am indeed unrepentant in speaking out against the genocide and the system of supremacy that the UK government continues to fund and arm. That is anchored in my belief in the sanctity of life and the belief that God created all humans equally.
The suspension continues, of course. The GMC will have to apply to the High Court in February if they want to extend it further.
I miss my job and career. I miss practising medicine, caring for patients and the British people. My words, spoken or shared, were against their crimes. Their barbarity. To be unrepentant in this is my duty as a human, a Muslim, and a doctor.

A-level standard English? Are they joking? The vast majority of the population would not pass that.
Under the Earned Settlement model set out before Parliament today, the right to live in the UK permanently will no longer be granted automatically after five years.
Instead, it will be earned.
Under the reforms:
➡️The standard route to settlement will double from five to 10 years
➡️ People who enter illegally, including by small boat, face a wait of up to 30 years to settle
➡️ Care workers who meet the visa requirements will retain a five-year route
➡️ Higher earners on more than £50,000, skilled public service workers and refugees arriving on safe and legal routes will be able to settle in five years
➡️ Migrants who claim benefits face a 20-year wait for settlement
➡️ Migrants with a criminal record will be prevented from settling in the UK
➡️ Migrants will be required to meet A-level standard English to settle in the UK

Kemi, congratulations on leading a major British party as a Black Woman. It takes real talent to rise to where you are and deceit is what it takes to rise as a Black leader in a western Conservative Party.
It is a pity the climb did not leave room for a history book and since you chose to argue in the language of history, let us do the history. Let’s dissect your verbal diarrhea point by point.
Everyone participated." Slavery existed on every continent. So did war, and nobody calls a village feud the World War. The transatlantic trade ran for 366 years (1501 to 1866) and put about 12.5 million Africans on ships, of whom about 1.8 million died before they saw the Americas, according to the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database. It ran through joint-stock companies, chartered monopolies, Lloyd's underwriters and acts of Parliament. It was hereditary, because the law made the child of an enslaved mother property from birth. It was racial, because a whole continent was defined as chattel. No other system in history combined those features at that scale. Dissolving all of it into "people from every continent" is far worse than intellectual dishonesty.
Britain was a market leader, not a participant. British ships carried about 3.2 million Africans, second only to Portugal and Brazil. The Treaty of Utrecht (1713) gave Britain the asiento, a thirty-year monopoly to supply 4,800 enslaved Africans a year to Spanish America. The Royal African Company, chartered in 1672 and headed by the Duke of York, later James II, branded its captives "DY". During Edward Colston's years in its leadership it shipped about 84,000 people, and roughly 19,000 died on the way.
You say British taxpayers should not answer for what happened before they were born. They did. In 1833 Britain borrowed £20 million to compensate slaveholders, and taxpayers serviced that loan until 2015, including the descendants of the enslaved. So the principle you invoke was not applied when the cheque went to slaveholders. It only appears when the cheque changes direction.
"Navel-gazing" is a curious charge from someone whose party spends more energy on the past (Empire nostalgia, culture war crusades) than most of those you accuse. Defend Britain if you must. But do not use your Nigerian name as the permission slip for arguments Nigerians know better than anyone.
Slavery was an evil in which people from every continent and region participated. We should be honest about the whole history, not select the parts that are politically convenient today, especially given Britain's leading role in ending the transatlantic slave trade.
If Caribbean countries are asking Britain for a formal apology for Britain’s role in the transatlantic slave trade, will they also be asking the same of the descendants of African kingdoms, rulers and merchants who captured, sold and profited from the trade?
On demands for reparations, whether through cash or debt relief, we have been down this track before. Twenty-five years ago, Jubilee 2000, Drop the Debt and Make Poverty History argued that cancelling the debts of poorer countries would give them a fresh start. More than $100 billion of debt was eventually written off, but many of those countries have since built up even bigger debts. Labour are already spending too much on Britain's welfare state, now is not the time for Andy Burnham to be providing global welfare.
There is no reason British taxpayers today should be held financially responsible for things that happened generations before any of us were born. And I have even less patience for political elites in commonwealth countries who don’t know how to make their own citizens prosperous now looking for another opportunity to blame Britain.
As Prime Minister, Andy Burnham should be Britain’s greatest defender. Instead, he is writing articles saying we need to confront our history (as if we haven't done enough of that) and considering another formal historical apology. Tony Blair already expressed Britain’s deep sorrow and regret for our role in the slave trade nearly twenty years ago. There is no need to do so again.
This is all another navel-gazing distraction. The Commonwealth should be looking forward, not endlessly backwards. That means economic partnerships to make us all richer and deeper military and security cooperation against common threats. If every Commonwealth summit becomes an exercise in presenting Britain with demands for cash then we need to start asking if it is worth the effort.

If anyone isn't up to date with #oakrightglobal:
It's an UAE-based international lobbying and geopolitical comms company, without clear paper trail, ran by @IsabelOakeshott and without register under FIRS, the UK lobbying register.
She was going on TV shows and writing articles without her association with the company being disclosed to viewers. Unclear if that was disclosed to @Telegraph and @TalkTV.
Her company colleagues were posting narrative-based videos about boats crossing the Channel and pushing change of regime narratives out of the UK and even sending them abroad.
Her husband's party colleagues participated in/initiated parliamentary discussions linked to countries she engaged professionally with via Oakright.
Oakright organised meetings with foreign authorities, investors and British politicians behind closed doors without any corner of our media being aware of it.
Details in 🧵 below.
We need to talk about Oakright Global. Because Oakright is @IsabelOakeshott. And Oakeshott is @reformparty_uk. We need to talk about Lybia, Nigeria, Israel, Iran, UAE; undeclared events and activities; Reform's parliamentary activity overlap with Oakright's clients. We need to talk about the "quiet" and the "loud".

Curve Theatre banned me.
I performed "Let the Light Pour In" at The Curve Theatre in Leicester earlier this week. At the end of the two-hour show. (which sold out), usually, the final slide is a QR code like the one below.
It is an appeal from The Gold from The Stone Foundation, which supports Christmas Dinners for care leavers on Christmas Day, and it resonates deeply with my life and the show. Leicester Curve Theatre banned me from showing the QR code and subsequently edited my slides.
They said they cut it out because they were a charity themselves. The audience included members from the local Christmas Dinners teams. This has never happened before. I am surprised Curve Theatre could be so uncharitable and mean, in these times, but there you have it.
If you have a spare fiver, please check out the charity via the QR Code.
