Trump came to Corporate America hat in hand, flashing the loaded gun tucked in his waistband. Companies responded with gifts, praise, “donations,” and help executing legally questionable parts of the Trump agenda. Some capitulated. Others more gleefully collaborated. They were all shortsighted. thebulwark.com/p/corporate-a…

Corporate America bent over backward to curry favor with Trump. But the companies that showered him with money and favors may soon find themselves answering to Congress instead. @crampell examines how their efforts to buy influence could come back to haunt them. lnk.thebulwark.com/3W7Dfjz?u…

Corporations have aided Donald Trump in degrading the democratic, rules-based system that for so long helped the private sector flourish. But Donald Trump won't be in charge forever. The latest edition of Receipts from @crampell: lnk.thebulwark.com/4Ao8F47

Incredible. Endless stories about young people feeling disillusioned, dooming about not being able to even buy a house etc, and yet there is no politician of any party (afaik) that will actually do anything to reduce the boomers’ slice of the pie.
.@AbdulElSayed thinks property tax for seniors should be frozen I think its generational warfare and that they should sell their houses if they can't afford them. He concedes I'm 'theoretically correct' but practically wrong Our exchange

A reporter just asked Trump about the removal of Lt. Gen. Brett Sylvia, but referred to him only as "Lt. Gen. Sylvia." "She’s got problems," Trump said. "She’s gonna have big problems. We’re very much looking for leakers"

Asked if he agrees with Trump's comment that Warsh is "great" but rest of Fed board is political & "would like to see the country do badly," Warsh declines to say. "Not going to be responding to quotes from public officials." Says he's proud to be chair and Fed made a good decision today

Think about how much time was wasted at Google to prevent its AI chatbot from accidentally saying something that pissed off the president. Corruption is truly a tax on capitalism.

Striking detail in the big NYT piece on Taiwanese families adjusting to working at the huge new TSMC chip plant in Arizona: their surprise at the lack of rigor in US schools.

NEW: I obtained the full Trumbull County file for Amy Acton's stepfather's 1974 charge which shows that he was indicted for incest involving his 16-year-old biological daughter in 1973. The sheriff was then unable to locate him to serve him a summons in the county and nothing further happened in the case. Donna Arthur, featured in Vivek Ramaswamy's still-running campaign ad, married Cledith the next year in a neighboring county.

"The same people who insist on policing public bathrooms to protect little girls [are] smearing an actual child rape survivor," writes @crampell. It sums up "the broader Trump agenda: professing support for the vulnerable while shielding their abusers." thebulwark.com/p/trump-cruel…

NEW: It's not just Amy Acton. Trump has been dismissive or cruel or damaging to victims of sexual assault whether personally or as a matter of policy. A must read on the moment from @crampell thebulwark.com/p/trump-cruel…

Trump’s response to the Ramaswamy ad is a reminder of how his admin has treated survivors of abuse. Beyond Acton, beyond Epstein's victims, there are thousands of other kids & domestic violence victims whose lives have been harmed by Trump policy thebulwark.com/p/trump-cruel…

Important from @crampell. "That Trump would now choose to try to discredit a child sex-crime victim is unsurprising. He was a close friend of Epstein...He has no qualms about throwing abuse survivors under the bus if doing so helps him politically." thebulwark.com/p/trump-cruel…
