My timeline is full of VCs and founders bragging that they could drink more Guinness than each other. Performative pints of plain larping is the saddest form.

Michael Ovitz’s autobiography is actually the best book on enterprise sales. One of his tips: inoculate people early in a sales process against things they won’t like. It’s always worked incredibly well for us. It’s become more useful as banks increasingly say nasty (and mostly untrue) things about Imprint. But what a compliment! amazon.com/dp/0753553384

The economy is weird and *maybe* later in the cycle. Jobs are harder and harder to get but unemployment is still super low.

What's the story with every world leader wanting a picture of them walking purposefully around NYC?

Consumers still need the underlying products from these companies. Like, you know, bank accounts. But there will be an interesting opportunity for making the products more honest and competitive. I guess this is a valid view that legacy companies are just not good at that bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Everyone knows what a regular is. The coffee shop that starts your order when you walk in. The bartender who knows your name and your pour. Regulars come back more, spend more, and tell their friends. Every brand wants customers like that. But does anyone do it at scale?

Muse is the first product that makes me believe agentic commerce could become a thing for normal Americans. The UI is great, especially in Whatsapp. Meta distribution spans every age group. It may finally be time for us to release our agentic features at Imprint.

Two different VCs came by this week, both saying they’d realized many fintech businesses could be huge AI beneficiaries and looked like great value next to Legora and Harvey at 40x revenue. Sadly, neither got my cigar-butt investing reference.

Can someone explain to me how any founder who believes in their business would do this?

Today, we led a coalition of fintech, digital asset, and merchant trade associations urging Acting Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director @russvought to finalize an open banking rule that is free of data access fees and data rationing thresholds. 🧵

We're focused on never hiring more than 300 people @ImprintPayments. We focus on outcomes not tokenmaxing. We build the system that runs agents and self corrects them. And every team owns their own agents, so nothing routes through a central bottleneck. anniez.xyz/p/notes-on-buildi…

Hope the 996 founders are successful. Will be brutal for them to have to get a life if not.

If you hang out much with finance bros (or “capital allocators” as they now call themselves),1 you may chance to hear somebody described as an “operator.”* *This neologism is actually incredible It’s like something out of early 20th century Marxist propaganda, but they did it to themselves! 😂😂😂
