Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins and PSNI Head of Road Policing Chief Inspector Celeste Simpson are urging drivers to slow down and obey traffic restrictions during Road Worker Safety Week, beginning Monday 2 November. Every day, road workers operate in challenging conditions to maintain our roads, respond to incidents and help keep people moving safely. In our opening video, the Infrastructure Minister explains why everyone using the road has a part to play in protecting the people working on it. When approaching roadworks, please slow down, stay focused, follow the signs and give workers the space they need. Road workers are doing their job. Please help them do it safely. In stationary queues of traffic drivers should apply the parking brake, once the following traffic has stopped take their foot off the footbrake to deactivate the vehicle brake lights. This will minimise glare to road users behind until traffic moves again. @deptinfra @daera_ni
