Outback Steakhouse parent company Bloomin' Brands is moving to acquire 61 restaurants operated by a major franchisee that filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Out West Restaurant Group, which operates Outback Steakhouse locations across the western United States, filed for bankruptcy protection in Delaware on Monday, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

NEW: A Texas family of 4, their nanny, 2 close friends, and 2 pilots have been identified as the 9 people killed in a private jet crash in Florida.
According to TMZ, 44-year-old Austin tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson was traveling with his wife, their two children, and others aboard a Learjet 60 headed from Austin to the Bahamas when the aircraft plunged nose-first into a busy street near Palm Beach and exploded.
Investigators say ice began forming on the jet during moderate turbulence before the crew declared an emergency.
California voters are set to cast their ballots to determine the fate of a proposed billionaire tax that could see the Golden State lose wealthy residents and may not deliver the revenue advocates hope for.
The ballot measure, known as Proposition 40, would impose a one-time 5% wealth tax on taxpayers and trusts with assets in excess of $1 billion and use the revenue to fund state healthcare programs, public education and food assistance.
The threat of the wealth tax has caused some prominent billionaires to move out of the state or relocate businesses.
