Me: "Our system is completely down. We need your help immediately. We’re ready to pay the $40,000."
There was a brief pause on the line.
Consultant: "My emergency salvage rate for compromised systems is $120,000, paid upfront."
CEO: "That’s extortion! Tell him no!"
Consultant: "Your downtime is currently costing you $50,000 an hour. You have ten minutes to decide."
My CEO signed the wire transfer five minutes later in total silence.
The consultant fixed the entire leak in six hours.

Zohran Mamdani just did what most Democrats and Republicans are too gutless to do.
He looked straight into the camera and said the quiet part out loud:
Republicans called Obama a socialist every single day for 8 years. It didn’t stop him.
Now they’re trying the same tired red-baiting on anyone who wants a New Deal instead of the raw deal working people have been force-fed for decades.
People are hungry for something real. Not more corporate welfare dressed up as “moderation.” Not more “public-private partnerships” that somehow always privatize the profits and socialize the losses.
Mamdani is right. The socialist smear is a dead tactic.
The only question left is whether the Democratic Party has the spine to actually deliver for the people who keep electing them… or if they’ll keep protecting the same donors who’ve been extracting wealth from this country for 40 years.
Keep going, Mayor.

For those scratching their heads because they don't understand population density, I hope this helps.
I love flattery. I think flattery is social lubricant. I even love the obvious flattery like when you;re in sweats and your friend pretends it’s high fashion. I think everyone reading this tweet is smart, sophisticated, good looking, and right on the brink of a major success!
I can’t wait to see who wants to argue with me.
My statement to Republicans nationwide: Return to your roots of ACTUAL fiscal conservatism, limited government, and stop prioritizing corporations over citizens and you will absolutely win elections again.
Stop protecting grifters, pedos, and criminals, and stop running trainwreck candidates like Boebert and Paxton.
And stop thinking compromise is a bad word. It's not, it's the bedrock of democracy.

Why is Megyn Kelly so pro-rape? I've never seen a woman so pro-rape. She seems to act like if you weren't stabbed during it, then it wasn't really rape. Bizarre. She has children, too, daughters. God help them if they're raped, Megyn will side with the rapist like Amy Acton's mom.
She admitted that w/in moments of meeting RB backstage, she used her tongue on his anus (as another woman was fellating him). She hadn’t even been introduced. Later she went to his place excited for sex (which they had). The two discussed anal sex b/4 hvg it - she said it was her 1st time. Her friend testified that the accuser admitted to her that she agreed to it (told RB “be gentle”). RB testified they watched tv together after.
When a reporter first contacted accuser about RB she said “I’m not sure my story has much in it; I was an idiot, young & stupid, probably as much to blame.”

I didn't even notice until earlier today that Georgia state government took a big blue swing too. Lt Gov, AG, and SOS all went Democrat, Senate is republicans at half plus ONE guy, and the house dems are two seats from majority.
Georgia is BLUE.
The voters have spoken and they're still trying to hold on to power. People of Texas, never forget what these people have done to you and want to keep doing.
🚨 I call on Gov. Abbott to IMMEDIATELY convene a special session to REIN IN EXECUTIVE EMERGENCY POWERS… before Gina Hinojosa is sworn in!
Republicans lost last night, but Democrats were not sworn in.
We still have total power in Texas, and we must act like it by using the remaining ten weeks to restore separation of powers and limit the emergency powers that Governor-Elect Hinojosa is set to inherit, which would allow her to destroy liberty in Texas by executive fiat.
I’ve warned since I was first elected that NO governor, Republican or Democrat, should have unchecked emergency powers!
Now that Texas has elected a Democrat Governor, the urgency is undeniable… and inaction is intolerable.
Without action, Governor Hinojosa will inherit the powers of a DICTATOR.
Due to the absurd (and almost certainly unconstitutional) Texas emergency powers laws, Gov. Hinojosa will literally have the power to modify laws, ignore laws, or create and enforce laws – including criminal laws – on a whim!
Today is a day for ACTION, and bold leadership.
The Texas Legislature must immediately pass, and Governor Abbott must sign, legislation like HB911, which I filed in 2022 and warned at the time, that “Never ending emergency powers are antithetical to representative government and render people powerless. Legislative bodies allowing a single executive branch official to both write and enforce laws is the biggest threat to our constitutional system of divided government and should be opposed irrespective of which political party runs the executive branch.”
My legislation would protect liberty from executive fiat by, among other things, taking the following actions:
1. Prohibit the Governor from suspending or modifying statutes
2. Sunset emergency orders in 30 days if the legislature does not ratify the order
3. Prohibit the governor from reissuing emergency orders that expired or the legislature rejected
4. Require emergency orders to be narrowly tailored
5. Subject emergency orders to expedited judicial review
We have TEN WEEKS LEFT to protect Texas from near total Democrat rule.
I encourage every elected Republican in Texas to join my demand for Gov. Abbott to call a special session.
The future of liberty in America is literally on the line in Texas, and Texans deserve leadership that acts accordingly.

Relevant tonight.
Liz Cheney: “I say this to my Republican colleagues who are defending the indefensible. There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain.”
This is why I love America. Yes we're loud and talk to strangers, but the vast majority of us are good people. Don't let politicians fool you.
My wife has taught high school in Tokyo for twenty years.
Every year, a few of her students spend a year living with a family in America. When they come home, she asks each of them one question.
"What do you miss?"
She expects hamburgers.
She almost never gets hamburgers.
And these aren't old stories. Most of these kids came home in the last two years.
"Every time I left the house, my host mom said, 'Text me when you get there.' In Japan, nobody needs to know where I am. In Ohio, somebody always did." (Mina, 17, Ohio)
"If you walk toward a door, an American will hold it open. Even if you are very far away. So you have to run. I ran to so many doors." (Itsuki, 16, Georgia)
"My host brother screamed on the floor of a grocery store. A stranger walked by and said to my host mom, 'You're doing great, Mama.' She almost cried. I didn't know strangers were allowed to say that." (Aoi, 17, Texas)
"We went away for the weekend and left our trash can at the curb. When we got back, it was by the garage. Nobody said who. My host dad said if it had been there one more day, the neighbor would have knocked." (Haruto, 16, Minnesota)
"A car got stuck in the snow in front of our house. Four men came out of four houses. Nobody called them. They pushed, the car drove away, and they went back inside without saying their names." (Ren, 17, Michigan)
"Every American has jumper cables. Maybe half of them know which clip goes where. The other half help anyway." (Shin, 16, Montana)
"In July, my host family put a cooler on the porch. Cold water, snacks, and a sign: 'For our delivery drivers. Thank you!' I asked if they knew the drivers. They said no." (Nanami, 16, Arizona)
"Downtown, there are banners on the lampposts. Photos of soldiers from the town. Some old, some very young. My host grandpa walked me down the street and told me every name." (Yuna, 16, Iowa)
"I got a C-plus on my first test. My host dad said, 'I'm proud of you,' and put it on the fridge. In Japan, nobody is proud of a C-plus." (Takeru, 17, Pennsylvania)
Then the quietest girl in the class raised her hand.
Sora. Seventeen. Missouri.
"Nobody asks me 'home safe?' anymore," she said.
She was wrong.
In September, there was a typhoon warning for Tokyo. At 2 a.m., Sora's phone lit up.
It was her host mom. In Missouri. Watching the weather in a country she had never been to.
"Saw the storm. You home safe?"
Sora told my wife she cried for a long time. Then she typed the answer she had typed a hundred times, from football games and friends' driveways.
"Home safe."
Her host mom wrote back one line.
"Good. That's all I needed."
My wife has asked that question for twenty years. Not one kid has ever said they missed how big America is.
They miss how America says goodbye. And how it checks that you got home.
So, America. You think you've lost something.
You haven't. It's on a porch in Arizona. It's pushing a car in Michigan. It's awake at 2 a.m. in Missouri, watching our weather.
You don't remember doing any of it.
A kid in Tokyo will never forget.
