If you ask Americans whether they want to fund public transit, and explain the benefits correctly, they often say yes. But you do have to ask them!

A day ago she got called fat in front of a thousand people by an adjudicated rapist, smiled through it, kissed him, and it ended her career. You can see her realize it in real time that it’s over for her - realization that she sold her soul to accomplish nothing. The pain is real. And she deserved it.

Would just like to note that this passed with 65% support and the people who want NYC streets to remain dangerous car sewers & free parking forever do not actually represent some silent majority of residents despite their constant whining.

A 1977 @BostonGlobe article documented how large minimum lot requirements restricted housing supply, priced out the middle class, and drove average housing costs up by 8%+. Every year we delay reform, we deepen the damage to the next generation and undermine our economic future.

A huge victory for public transit that will resonate across the US. If Measure RTM in the SF Bay Area had failed, leaders across the country would have said “if transit can’t win in the most liberal metro area in the US, what chance do we have?” 1/.
The bay's public transit will live to see another day. Voters in five Bay Area counties approved Prop RTM, a half-cent sales tax that would fund more than 20 transit agencies, including BART, Muni, and Caltrain. SF voters also gave an overwhelming thumbs up to Prop H to fund Muni for 15 years. Read more: sf.news/4eyLtHV

BREAKING: Supervisor Connie Chan just conceded the SF race to fill Nancy Pelosi's seat in Congress. latest results have state Sen. Scott Wiener ahead with 55.5% of the vote, and the gap may narrow as more votes are counted, but Chan says she has no path to win.

We are in truly uncharted territory for Texas transportation. Every single transit and rail effort in the state, from high-speed rail to city bus systems, has worked under a state government always assumed hostile. That is no longer the case.
Will be curious to see how Dems in the Lege go about tackling: -The housing crisis -Transportation (will we see more funds for public transit? High-speed rail?) -Property taxes

To any conservatives currently blackpilling, PLEASE keep this in mind: You had complete control of all three branches of the most powerful country in history, and you never will again. Those were the best two years of your entire life. It will never get better for you. It's over.

this whole “making it easier to build housing is GENTRIFICATION” shtick was already losing sauce but when you’re talking about ballot initiatives sponsored by ZOHRAN MAMDANI you’ve totally lost the plot
No one understands this is urban renewal 2.0 — Robert Moses with a DSA card. Who cares about fast buses when there aren’t low income people in the city to ride them? Who cares about outdoor dining when only gentrifiers can afford it?

sorry but the quality of my life is about to directly improve due to outdoor dining, bike and bus lanes, and accessibility ramps, instead of having those projects tied up for years on "community input"
Folks who voted "YES" for the 5 NYC ballot measures, how are you ok with further giving up community input, including your own, on governance?

This man sacrificed his political career to do a historically great thing that has proven to be wildly popular everywhere in San Francisco except the NIMBY district he represented. He deserves a damn medal for courage and leadership. For real.
Sunset Dunes forever! Thank you San Francisco for voting to save our magnificent coastal park.  The sacrifice to make Sunset Dunes possible was worth it. Every day is a reward when you get to see thousands of people improving their physical and mental health with an ocean view. Along with all the kids and seniors discovering maximum joy in life. Sunset Dunes is a success story. The feared traffic “carmageddon” never happened. Yet the positive impact on the environment, local businesses, and every park visitor is very real. And everyone is able to get where they need to go.   I’m proud that Sunset Dunes is good for the environment and makes life better for people. Let’s celebrate the largest pedestrianization project in California history. We must stop centering public policy decisions around cars if we want to take climate change seriously and help future generations.  Now that we’ve voted on this issue three times in four years, it’s time to accept that Sunset Dunes is here to stay. There’s no reason to keep fighting over one of San Francisco’s most popular parks. We are fortunate in life to be able to argue as much as we have about a road and a slightly different driving route. Let’s focus our energy now on addressing the true hardships in the world.  The process that ultimately created Sunset Dunes was democracy. A vote by the people is the most open and transparent process possible. Each voter had an equal say about what to do with their coast because the coast belongs to everyone. Support for Sunset Dunes is only growing in areas that voted against it. Before long, a majority in every neighborhood won’t be able to imagine San Francisco without a coastal park and all the benefits it offers.  We don’t have to fear change. Doing bold and positive things like creating Sunset Dunes is how we create our best San Francisco.  Our kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids will thank us for choosing the right side of history.  Read more about why Sunset Dunes is on the right side of history: engardio.substack.com/p/hist…
