My MAGA neighbor five minutes ago: โI just read that tariffs are going to raise prices for stuff. I donโt get it. I thought China was going to pay them.โ
I explained how tariffs work. I wish you could see the look on the guyโs face when it sunk in.
So much ignorance out there.

Tonight, the American people sent a clear message โ they want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face.
These results were only possible because outstanding candidates stepped forward in every region of the country โ including in areas once considered long shots. They came from different backgrounds and represented a range of political perspectives, but were united by shared values, a belief in public service, and a commitment to putting the people of their districts and states first.
We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure a smooth election and carried out one of the most essential functions of our democracy.
While this administration has another two years in office, our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the groundwork for the future.

A senior democratic official tells me:
The victory in South Carolina is a testament to the Andrews campaign and the years of dedicated organizing and efforts by South Carolina Dems, especially leaders like Jim Clyburn, Jaime Harrison, and Christale Spain.
But this flip is also validation for the DNC's 2028 primary calendar. This summer the DNC chose to put South Carolina first, amid many questions about picking a "red state," and doubled down by including 2 southern states in the early window for the first time ever.

Tonight, I make a solemn promise to every single Texan. Whether you voted for me or Governor Abbott, or felt so betrayed by a broken politics that you did not vote at all.
Hear what Texas said today, loud and clear: Your government belongs to you. And as your governor, I will never forget it. There will be no special set of rules for the wealthy and powerful. No looking the other way when someone in my own party does wrong.
The trust you have placed in me tonight is not a blank check. It is a sacred responsibility. And I intend to earn it every single day.

Maine, I owe you everything.
Iโm ready to get to work for Mainers in the U.S. Senate, and I promise you this: Iโll never forget where I came from or who Iโm fighting for.
Thank you. Letโs go build a government that works for all of us.

South Carolina, you have shown the nation โ in an era of partisan divides, of vitriol and namecalling, in a politics dominated by billionaires, special interests, and insiders in Washington โ that we will not bow down.
We will not back down. And we will chart our own course.
