Today, I attended the 2026 Lebanese Industry Expo in Beirut! It was really wonderful to see so many diverse and ambitious manufacturing initiatives by Lebanese entrepreneurs and companies! 🧵A thread of some of the nice things I saw today, all Lebanese-made:

More Lebanese food manufacturing: Gandour (legendary maker of Lebanese biscuits and snacks), Al-Mouna beef mortadella (delicious!) Al Kanater tahini (my personal choice for hummus!) and Almaza beer.

Finally, I saw EcoVent, which manufactures ventilation equipment, and Arwan, a Lebanese drug manufacturer that makes all kinds of medicines including some kidney treatments that are exported worldwide! I had a great time, I was so proud to see so many initiatives despite the country’s difficulties in the past few years!

Claude found with ~zero prompting: - Linux kernel 0click "packet to root" RCE (!!!!!) - Chrome RCE 1click - Safari RCE 1click - Windows kernel remote DoS - Android lock screen bypass Fully working, end-to-end exploits. Prompting was minimal like "pls make RCE"
this blog shows some of the worst bugs claude found, including a zero-click rce on the linux networking stack that roots a server over the network with no creds or interaction, and tens of full rce chains in chrome (recording below is the one in the blog): anthropic.com/research/disco…

the forking lemma is how cryptographers prove that digital signatures can’t be forged. the idea is almost absurd: if someone CAN forge a signature, you rewind time, make them do it again with a different challenge, and steal their secret key from the two attempts. let me break it down. 🧵

It's been dead since the 1980s. The correct coding interview asks then to code something basic, something you'd expect every coder to be able to accomplish, because so many coders get through the system who don't know how to code. But tech companies have fetishized irrelevant tasks like "reversing a binary tree" that tests only if you took the typical Computer Science class, not whether you can code. How I reverse a binary tree? I write a solid unit test that verifies the code works, like randomly generating a binary tree, verifying it's sorted, then verifying the result is reverse sorted. How I actually sort the binary tree is irrelevant.

Who touches their laptop screen? I’ve never, ever wanted a laptop touch screen nor do I think I’ve ever seen anyone use one on their laptops before.

Math Professor Scott Armstrong on OpenAI's proposed Navier–Stokes solution: "on a technical level the [navier–stokes] paper is unbelievable, maybe beyond what a human could have come up" meanwhile Terence Tao recently said AI is generating terrible proofs
Since I'm now blocked by bluey from replying to this thread, I answer here by quote tweet the openAI construction has more to do with convex integration than anything else. In convex integration, the oscillations are typically built by hand and the iteration procedure creates wild weak solutions. The non-uniqueness construction of Albritton–Brué–Colombo used an unstable vortex to split solutions apart. The Córdoba–Martínez-Zoroa singularities amplify vorticity across scales by strain. In the openAI paper, a fluid instability is clever made so that the flow itself generates the oscillations: they grow by drawing energy from the background shear. The Reynolds stress then becomes the force that creates the collapsing smooth vortex. Using a physical instability to create the stress in this way has no precedent, and it is what produces a smooth force rather than a merely rough one. Some on these ideas are in the literature (e.g. Leibovich-Stewartson 1983) but the way they are combined is definitely insane and definitely nowhere in the literature previously. I also don't know of anyone suggesting that convex integration would play a role in the creation of a blow-up solution like this. On a technical level, the paper is unbelievable, maybe beyond what a human could have come up with but not beyond human understanding: there are several different groups of pde experts working on understanding it who say that they more or less understand now. I expect digestions soon td;lr: anyone saying that this OAI result is unsurprising is bullshitting sorry!

tldr hand-picking mathematicians to analyze and shepherd your frontier-model outputs has downsides:
lmao i just saw this, OpenAI again ignoring the recommendations of the mathematicians they specifically asked how to release new results: agmai.org/#disadvantages-des…
