Ever wonder what it takes to bring Colorado River water to Southern California? It’s a journey that spans hundreds of miles, relies on incredible engineering, and requires strong regional partnerships to keep water flowing! Calleguas Director Reddy Pakala recently hosted a three-day Colorado River Aqueduct inspection tour in partnership with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California @mwdh2o and Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency. More than two dozen elected officials, community leaders, and regional stakeholders from Ventura and Los Angeles counties got a behind-the-scenes look at the infrastructure that helps deliver water to millions of Southern Californians. 📍Stops included: Hoover Dam, Copper Basin, Whitsett Pumping Plant, and Parker Dam. Beyond seeing this impressive infrastructure firsthand, participants gained a deeper understanding of the challenges facing our regional water supplies and the importance of continued investment, collaboration, and long-term planning. Reliable water doesn’t happen by accident. It takes infrastructure, innovation, and partnerships. #CalleguasMWD #ColoradoRiverAqueduct#RegionalPartnerships #WaterInfrastructure

Sites Reservoir has reached a major milestone after decades of planning. Yesterday, @CaWaterBoards issued the Project’s water right decision and permit, clearing a critical pathway toward construction. One step closer to a more resilient California.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝘀𝗼𝗻? | 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀 Today, Charley is in downtown Los Angeles with SCWC founding member Metropolitan Water District for the finish of an incredible journey along the Colorado River. Water advocate and ultrarunner Mina Guli has spent the last 100 days running roughly 2,000 miles along the Colorado River, using every mile to bring attention to the river, the communities that depend on it and the need to work together to secure its future. Charley had the opportunity to join today’s conversation about what Mina’s journey has taught us: bringing people together around water can accomplish far more than working against one another. That’s a message that hits home for SCWC. California’s water challenges are complex, but progress starts when we get people in the same room, find common ground and work toward solutions together. Congratulations to Mina on an incredible journey, and thanks to MWD for bringing people together for an important conversation about the future of the Colorado River. #WhereInTheWorldIsCharleyWilson #KeepTheRiverRunning #CaliforniaWater #ColoradoRiver #CAWater
