This morning, Secret Service barred our own @PENGuild member Cheyenne Haslett from the White House simply for doing her job.
Press access cannot be weaponized against journalists for their reporting. An attack on one outlet's ability to cover the White House is an attack on a free press for all of us.
We stand with our member and every journalist targeted for doing their job.

Last week, McClatchy laid off 30% of its unionized workers. Here's how you can help some of the 90 journalists and media workers who lost their jobs.
Tonight there's a lavish gala celebrating the 175th anniversary of @nytimes. Our @NYTimesGuild members invited themselves -- to let the bosses know it's time for a FAIR CONTRACT NOW.
Our members are a very big part of the success these bosses were celebrating at the NYSE. Fair contract NOW for the @NYTimesGuild

To say that the execs at @mcclatchy should be ashamed of their actions, which are harming the readers they profess to value, is understatement. We stand in full solidarity with all our siblings at @mcclatchy who deserve better.

Our management laid off more than 20 non-union coworkers yesterday on the Product & Technology team in the seventh round of layoffs here in four years.
We stand in solidarity with our laid-off colleagues and ask BI CEO Christian Baesler for answers. Our statement:

Today we pause to think of the members of our CWA family and all of the lives lost 25 years ago on September 11, 2001, as well as as those we’ve lost in the years since due to 9/11-related illnesses.

As we mark 25 years since September 11th, we honor the workers who tragically lost their lives in the attacks, those who ran toward danger, helped our city recover and rebuild, and paid an enormous price in the years that followed.
We will never forget.

Unionized editorial staff at Forbes have ratified their first contract in a deal that sets strong editorial integrity protections, establishes a new $68.5K salary floor, includes gold-standard job security protections, and more.

For anyone impacted by the layoffs at McClatchy today, there are a number of open positions here at The Post and Courier.
The community fabric of a lot of important places -- Miami, Kansas City, Charlotte, and Columbia -- got weaker today. This sucks.

We stand with our union siblings at @mcclatchy across the country.
The Pacific Northwest Newspaper Guild is shocked and disappointed by @mcclatchy 's decision to lay off 33% of its unionized workers at the Idaho Statesman, The News Tribune (Tacoma), Tri-City Herald, The Olympian and Bellingham Herald. This includes 10 journalists in Idaho, and seven across Washington.
These severe cuts will hobble these news organizations and leave the public throughout the Northwest less informed about the events and decisions that affect them, and with fewer people holding the powerful to account.
These are journalists who investigated local hospitals, served as watchdogs over state and local government, showed up at every high school game, jumped in to cover breaking news like wildfires, covered news in overlooked communities, and monitored development in one of the fastest growing regions in the country. One of these papers will no longer have a dedicated reporter covering city hall. Another will no longer have anyone dedicated to covering the state capitol.
McClatchy has decided that short-term profits for a hedge fund matter more than the wellbeing of the communities that its newspapers are supposed to serve. That is a model that is destined to fail.

Yesterday, @nyguild members marched at the New York City Labor Day parade because democracy depends on journalism, and journalism depends on workers!
