I'm 40 years old, and graduated from university in the summer of 2008. Throughout my entire adult life the prevailing narrative has been about cuts, "painful" years, and ever-increasing inequality.

Just a reminder, that despite predicting every year since 2018 that within 5 years we would see 1000s of lawsuits etc, untold testimonies of regret, this has not happened.
Trans people got trans healthcare and went on with their lives. That's it. This comparison is insane.
This week a friend asked me: “If teen girls were caught up in a culture-bound mass psychosis, wishing to have their healthy eyes surgically removed, would we still be debating it? Or would we have stopped it right away?”
I think it shows our Puritan roots still haunt us. Human sexuality remains the great taboo. We can remove or damage a young person’s capacity for sexual function, and the people who object are the ones accused of being “fixated on genitals.” Naming the loss is treated as more shameful than causing it.
