An advert for another cancelled San Francisco gig (a Halloween-themed event) at this point in October 1967 - with the Steve Miller Blues Band stepping in to cover Pink Floyd's missed appearance. It was amongst a number of shows that Pink Floyd weren't able to perform, due to delays with work permits...

A Floyd date in Scotland in 1969. The Electric Garden was a famous Glasgow venue in Sauchiehall Street in the late 1960s/early 1970s (later The Mayfair and is now The Garage).

Today in 1969, Pink Floyd took part in a five-day festival which was originally planned for Paris, but eventually moved to Amougies, Belgium, with the event taking place in a large circus tent. Frank Zappa was one of the two compères, and performed with many of the acts during the festival. Here's the almost 14 minute Interstellar Overdrive collaboration between Zappa and the Floyd: youtu.be/_2Z1itZKH6U?feature…

Watch the newly restored high-resolution version of the iconic ‘Echoes’ sequence, the final chapter from the cult-classic 1973 surf film Crystal Voyager here: pinkfloyd.lnk.to/EchoesFilm The pioneering footage which became the film ‘Echoes’ was shot by futuristic surfer, photographer and filmmaker George Greenough. By developing and building a seventeen pound 'water proof' camera rig he was able to take the audience on a POV trip inside a tubing wave for the first time ever.

In the Rolling Stone review of this gig in 1971, they said that "the music of Pink Floyd evokes images of cold, clear, far interstellar regions, of black moving water, of the exhilarating bleakness of the moon..."

An unusual piece of footage, filmed in October 1968 for ORTF2 TV in Paris, and broadcast in November that year. Sadly, despite the multi-camera setup, you only briefly see the back of Richard Wright's head during this performance of Let There Be More Light... youtube.com/watch?v=LfNVP1Iu…

A 1971 concert with an eye-catching poster by Randy Tuten: "This design was done with part collage & part drawing. I worked in the Martian machines from H.G.Wells' War of the Worlds 1953 movie. The guys waiting for a bus on the corner of any street USA, that's why there's no lettering on the signs, and low and behold what comes along are Martians. Think they're going to pick him up? A Pink Floyd moment I think".

Out today: the special Orange Vinyl Edition of Pink Floyd’s 1971 album 'Meddle' for National Album Day 2026. "The great thing with Meddle is that it's the band playing for the enjoyment of it. It probably is one of the freest albums of all in terms of how we played it. It was one of those things that we really looked forward to playing.” Nick Mason Order Meddle here: pinkfloyd.lnk.to/MeddleSTOMV

Watch the newly restored high-resolution version of the iconic ‘Echoes’ sequence, the final chapter from the cult-classic 1973 surf film Crystal Voyager here: youtube.com/watch?v=rqKgGwqL… “We watched it for the first time when we were on tour in Australia and we were all blown away by it. It was absolutely sensational. Nowadays everyone's got a GoPro fixed to their wetsuit, but at the time it was mind blowing to see the guy with the camera strapped to his chest, going through the water tunnel.” Nick Mason The pioneering footage which became the film ‘Echoes’ was shot by futuristic surfer, photographer and filmmaker George Greenough. By developing and building a seventeen pound 'water proof' camera rig he was able to take the audience on a POV trip inside a tubing wave for the first time ever. "I'm just so stoked that this whole thing is coming about; it’s amazing to work with Pink Floyd again. The big sound and the big picture; you can't beat it!" George Greenough The newly restored film arrives ahead of a new San Tropez Orange Marble vinyl edition of their landmark 1971 album Meddle, for this year’s National Album Day @AlbumDayUK out on October 17th. The International Times described the Floyd's element of this show thus: "The Pink Floyd, psychedelic pop group, did weird things to the feel of the event with their scary feedback sounds, slide projectors playing on their skin - drops of paint run riot on the slides to produce outer space, prehistoric textures - spotlights flashing on them in time with a drum beat…”
