Ahead of the Brazilian election, I urged the Trump administration to stop meddling with Brazil’s democracy. Still, the Trump administration is helping Bolsonaro to avoid accountability in Brazil by allowing him to hide in the US. It doesn’t matter if you’re a warmonger, an infamous, dangerous narco-trafficker, or an authoritarian, Trump will protect you as long as it benefits him and his donors.

Let me say it again: DHS has always been a weapon to be pointed at anyone the government deems a public enemy... and fascism ALWAYS requires a public enemy. There is no reforming or fixing a department created to violate our rights under the pretense of safety. We can reimagine what safety means. We can dismantle DHS, abolish ICE, and create something new based on the best parts of how we care for one another. Let's pass the Reimagining Safety Act!

Ahead of Israel’s elections and emboldened by Trump, Netanyahu has escalated his attacks on Palestinians—displacing thousands in the West Bank while continuing to bomb Gaza. Americans are tired of their tax dollars being used to displace, murder, and collectively punish millions of Palestinians. We must end our complicity in Netanyahu's campaign of terror. Not one more dollar. Not one more bomb.

I opened an investigation into the horrific conditions at El Valle Detention Facility following reports of detainees participating in hunger strikes. It’s clear that DHS continues to demonstrate gross disregard for our health, dignity, personhood, and the safety of our communities. We must abolish ICE, dismantle DHS, and reimagine safety.

Today is day 17 of a hunger strike in the privately-run El Valle ICE detention Center. Shokhrukh Abdullaev’s is one of the hunger strikers, who has been in detention for almost a year, while private companies profit from his pain. In detention, Shokhrukh has been denied access to medical care and humane treatment. Inhumane detention and families torn apart don't make us safer. I call for the release of all hunger strikers and demand they receive protection from further detention and deportation. We must end detention, abolish ICE, and dismantle DHS.

Eight years ago, our nation and the Jewish community suffered a horrific antisemitic act of violence at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. We mourn the 11 members of the community taken from us too soon. We must continually recommit ourselves to fighting antisemitism, condemning hate speech and violent rhetoric, and to defending our shared humanity. Let us be light and instruments of peace.

Everyday makes it clearer: Congress can't allow AI to continue operate without guardrails, oversight, or accountability. The reckless acceleration of AI has shown us that it can be a threat to working families and our democracy. But we don't need AI; it needs us. We must take action to protect our privacy, civil liberties, and democratic institutions.

Luis Sandoval is the 60th person to die in ICE custody.   From Folkston ICE Facility to El Valle Detention Center, ICE detention is deadly.   For every person dead, every family separated, every community terrorized, and every dissenter targeted and persecuted, we must pass my Reimagining Safety Act to abolish ICE and dismantle DHS.

Trump dragged us into an endless war because he knew he would profit from it. The crooked fascists in the administration don’t care if we’re sick, unhoused, uninsured, or dying if it benefits them, makes them rich, and keeps them in office and out of jail. Congress must reclaim our authority and hold the administration accountable!

Social Security is the only lifeline for many Americans who expected to retire with dignity. As prices are at a record high, this year Social Security benefits will only increase by 3.6%. You and I both know that a 3.6% increase is not enough! We must fight for everything working families deserve; that includes passing the Social Security Expansion Act, my Pensions for All Act, and the Living Wage for All Act.

Congratulations, Brazil, for standing up to authoritarianism! Lula's victory in Brazil is a reminder that the global majority will fight for democracy, human rights, and solidarity. Together, we are building a more fair, more just, more humane world! Brazil spoke, and the Trump administration must respect the results and stop the efforts to undermine Brazilian elections and autonomy.

Survivors, we see you, we believe you, and will continue to fight for you. The use of irresponsible, violent rhetoric by public officials can't be normalized. We must condemn it and act to root it out. No one who would weaponize a political opponent's pain and trauma for political advantage has the character to serve. Shame on Ramaswamy, shame on Trump, and shame on anyone who would defend the political ad targeting Amy Acton.

For 13 days, immigrants suffering inhumane conditions in a Texas detention center have been on a hunger strike. At least one hunger striker has confirmed connections to Illinois. I stand with our neighbors putting their bodies on the line to demand DHS honor their basic human rights. DHS detention has always been inadequate and inhumane. We must end detention, abolish ICE, and dismantle DHS. Let's pass my Reimagining Safety Act.
