9/11 ❤️ 25 years later, we still remember the lives lost, the heroes who stepped forward and the families and communities forever changed. May we never forget. Today, we continue to pray for peace, healing and unity. And we thank Jesus for being our source of hope, peace and light, even in the darkest moments. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” John 1:5

Today is Juneteenth. June Nineteenth, or “Juneteenth”, celebrates what happened in 1865: Federal troops arriving in Galveston, Texas two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, to ensure all enslaved people would be free. We honor this day as a nation, celebrating the freedom it gave. We honor this day as a church to remember to always strive towards unity in the body of Christ and further break down the barriers of division the enemy tries to erect. Let today bring unity and peace in all that we do.

“Every time I look at the cross I am reminded of the greatness of God and the redemptive power of Jesus Christ. I am reminded of the beauty and sacrificial love and the majesty of unswerving devotion to truth.” - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In the wake of today’s tragic shooting in Minneapolis involving an ICE agent, where a woman lost her life amid a highly charged encounter, I urge everyone—residents, protesters, law enforcement, and officials—to step back from anger and division. Violence and loss of life serve no one. Inflamed rhetoric will help no one. Let our leaders choose de-escalation over confrontation, dialogue over destruction, and shared humanity over division. Minneapolis has endured enough pain. May cooler heads prevail, and may God guide us through this difficult moment. Let’s pray right now in Jesus name for those impacted, law enforcement and our entire community.

Our hearts are heavy following the tragic violence at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. We stand in solidarity with the Jewish community and all those impacted by this devastating attack. We are praying for the victims, their families and everyone grieving unimaginable loss. In moments like this, we reject hatred and violence and cling to hope. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

Our hearts are heavy as we pray for those impacted by Hurricane Melissa. We pray for hope, comfort and strength for all those affected and for the first responders and volunteers working tirelessly to help in the aftermath of the storm. Our Kingdom Builders partner, Convoy of Hope, is actively working with partners on the ground in Jamaica to assess and meet the needs of those devastated by the storm.  Along with meeting the needs in Jamaica, Convoy of Hope is preparing to meet the needs of the other Caribbean countries that will be affected by Hurricane Melissa.  In times of crisis, let us stand together in prayer and support for all those affected. Convoy of Hope, our Kingdom Builders’ partner, is committed to providing disaster relief efforts in the affected areas. River Valley will support Convoy as they serve communities and provide hope to those in need. To give toward Convoy’s relief efforts, text CONVOY to 94000.

We must repent our way out!
I am sickened by the horrific assassination of Charlie Kirk at a college event in Utah today. Charlie was a bold leader, devoted husband & father and a proud Christian. This is evil on every level and we cannot stand by and watch as evil people try and silence voices they disagree with. Life is precious, no one can justify these types of murders! We must pray, stand up and refuse to give in to this evil. May God be with his wife and children and give us all the strength to confront this evil with boldness and godliness. Pray for America, we need to repent our way out of this. We cannot simply vote our way out, debate our way out or make laws to get out of this, WE NEED TO REPENT and SEEK our LORD JESUS CHRIST to change the hearts of our nation. It is either revival or chaos… Pray for revival!

We are praying for the city of Minneapolis after four deadly shootings in the last 24 hours, including two mass shootings.  Our hearts break for the victims and their families, including those who were killed in a religious attack on a Catholic school this morning. We are praying for the families, communities and first responders as they address the situation. We lift up the name of Jesus above any other name and ask for His peace to cover our communities as we believe for peace following today’s events. Jesus, you are our ever-present hope.
As more information develops, we will continue to share how we are supporting the communities involved and how you can help, as well as updates on what we are doing to ensure safety of all congregation members in our buildings.

We are praying for the suspect to be caught, for protection for our political leaders and our community. We lift up the name of Jesus above any other name and ask for His peace to cover our community following today’s events. Jesus, you are our ever-present hope.
