SWC Next is now in Rspack! Just the parser for now, but this is only the beginning. Get ready for an even faster Rspack

👀 If you’re new to SWC Next nitter.cf/rspack_dev/status/2115…
Rspack 2.3 will use SWC Next for JavaScript parsing. We plan to gradually migrate more of Rspack's internals to SWC Next and introduce a new swc-next-loader that supports custom transform plugins written in JavaScript.

SWC Next is here! Today, customizing how your code is transformed often means using Babel plugins or writing Wasm plugins for SWC. I believe the next generation of JS compilers should combine Rust's performance with the flexibility to write custom transform plugins in JavaScript. SWC Next's flat AST enables efficient data exchange between Rust and JS, laying the groundwork for fast JS plugins 🚀

Introducing SWC Next: the foundation for SWC’s next major version, built on a new architecture inspired by Yuku. - Up to 3x faster native parsing - Up to 10x faster parsing through the JavaScript API - A flat, ESTree-based AST designed for speed, memory efficiency, and JavaScript extensibility Starting with parsing, we’re bringing the rest of SWC to this new architecture. Built together by the SWC and Rstack teams.

🚀 Rstest 0.12.4 adds screenshot assertions. Catch visual regressions for pages and elements in Browser Mode. Compare against PNG baselines and inspect pixel diffs on mismatch.

After migration to @rspack_dev Rsbuild, then try Rstest as a replacement for Jest. This reuse your Rsbuild config making your test runner behavior closer to your build and has single source. You can delegate the task to the agent. Meaning the annoying works when doing migration like replacing jest references to rs, changing the mocks, rewriting snapshots, etc majority of these will be handled by your agent. Just make sure you install Rstest skills and the agent is doing loop. Our average shard with jest in CI is around 11mins. Down to 2 mins with rstest. Its just fast!
Please don’t use rspack, use rsbuild. Only ever use rspack directly if you are porting off webpack.

Fun fact: ChatGPT’s web app uses Rsbuild rather than using Rspack directly 👀
Please don’t use rspack, use rsbuild. Only ever use rspack directly if you are porting off webpack.

Some real-world gains from migrating to Rspack 👇

Since, it’s easy to miss something in a complex pipeline, making Rspack more Vite-ish was important. The results: - JS requests down by ~95% - Bundle size (uncompressed) down by 5~21% - Bundle size (compressed) down by ~40% - Dev server got faster in about 2.5x [7/8]

In the next release, Rspack will support `codeFilter` for loaders ⚡ Run a loader only on modules containing specific code, such as a "use foo" directive. Skip unnecessary transforms and speed up your builds

We moved the Zephyr Cloud dashboard (1 host + 7 Module Federation remotes) from Rspack to Rsbuild 2 by @rspack_dev, then let Rsdoctor 2 drive the cleanup. First load: 1,045 → 729 KB gzip (−30%) Build: 112s → 90s (−20%) 15-route journey: 1,294 → 788 KB (−39%) Numbers 🧵

In 2025, I wrote about Rspack in Angular. 2026 update: 🔹 Now @nx/angular-rspack 🔹 i18n, SSG, HMR, SSR app engine supported 🔹 Rspack 2.0 ready 🔹 8× faster than Webpack, on par with esbuild On Webpack with Module Federation? Look at it. On esbuild? Stay. edbzn.dev/blog/state-of-rspa…

We also see an extremely high correlation in the adoption of module federation and a product teams adoption of ai. Even pre-ai, teams who adopt federation average 3x increase in product output.

Rspack now powers massive codebases at some of the world’s largest companies, and feedback from these teams keeps making it better. Engineers at Microsoft and OpenAI have contributed over 100 PRs and issues. Thank you for all the contributions!
