+survived a 16-for-11 playoff to advance to match play.
The journey to a national championship is part of what makes the @usga U.S Amateur so compelling. Every match. Every hole. Every moment earned.
Jack Whaley was 2 down after 19 holes of the 126th U.S. Amateur final.
But in relentless rain, the 22-year-old Englishman became just the 12th player in the last 54 U.S. Amateurs to come from behind in the afternoon to win the Havemeyer Trophy, beating Jay Leng, 4 and 3. He is just the seventh to come from 2 down or more (Tiger Woods did it twice).
Whaley will soon collect not only his trophy but the inaugural Tiger Woods medal as well.

The players will now break for lunch and return to the course later this afternoon with LIVE coverage beginning at 3pm ET on @peacock and continuing at 4pm ET on @NBC.
