You can spend months planning a conference…
And your favorite photo is your daughter thumbing her nose at you from the audience.
She gets it honest 🤣
Thank you to this year‘s sponsors, speakers and attendees! Year 4 was our best yet and I can’t wait to do it again in 2027!
Breakfast at Johor Plantations Group in southern Malaysia: fried noodles (mee goreng) with shrimp & squid, plus kuih seri muka. They Americanized the noodles for us and toned down the heat. I could eat this every day, though I’d hate to see what the regular version is like 🔥🔥
Morning drive into southern Malaysia to tour a palm estate today. Never thought I’d be singing Backstreet Boys along the way 😂🌴🇲🇾
HOT TAKE time🔥
As of Oct 29, EU commitments for 2026/27 US #soybeans meal totaled 566tmt—73% of last year’s full-year total, up from just 10tmt at this point LY. With EUDR set to take effect Dec 30, can US meal turn that early surge into lasting gains in the EU market?

Wrapping up another great day in Kuala Lumpur with dinner and cocktails at Marini’s on 57, looking straight out at the Petronas Towers from the 57th floor.
Tomorrow we head south to tour oil palm estates, then on to Singapore for the weekend and next week’s CME APAC Commodities Forum.
Thank you to Glenauk Economics for having me in Kuala Lumpur today for “Soy vs. Palm: Which Will Be the Premium Oil?”
I enjoyed the discussion with Leow Huey Chuen and Julian McGill, alongside Gustavo Bergmann, No Bull’s Director of Operations.
Fantastic event!
Holy squishy jackpot near Petaling Street Market in KL!
Headed straight for Mom of the Year status. NeeDohs for the equivalent of $2 each 😳🙌

Sound up—KL rain is not for the faint of heart. The roar is real. ⛈️
Kuala Lumpur gets about 2,400 mm (94 inches) of rain a year—more than twice St. Louis. Nov is typically its wettest month.
The name fits: Kuala Lumpur means “muddy confluence,” where the Klang and Gombak rivers meet.
For the ag crowd: oil palm needs roughly 2,000 mm (79 inches) a year, spread fairly evenly. It’s not just how much rain falls—it’s when. 🌴
Kuala Lumpur doesn’t disappoint. A rooftop dinner with the Petronas Towers lighting up the skyline isn’t a bad way to end day one in SE Asia.
At nearly 1,500 feet tall and 88 floors each, they remain the tallest matching pair of towers in the world. Built in the 1990s to house the headquarters of PETRONAS, Malaysia’s national oil company.
Cheers! 🥂🇲🇾🌴
I’m excited to be in Kuala Lumpur this week for Glenauk Economics’ market outlook session: “Soy vs. Palm — Which Will Be the Premium Oil?”
I’ll be joining Huey Chuen Leow and Julian McGill for a discussion on the outlook for these two oils. Looking forward to the event!
Flying into Singapore is something you have to see to believe. The vessels below are in the Singapore Strait, the busy passage linking the Strait of Malacca with the South China Sea.
Ships stop here to refuel, change crews, take on supplies or wait for a berth. Containers also move from one ship to another.
Last year, Singapore recorded more than 3 billion gross tons in vessel arrivals and sold a record nearly 57 million tonnes of marine fuel. These routes matter for agriculture, too, linking Southeast Asian palm oil exporters with feed markets that depend on imported grains and oilseeds.
Spot on
This is worth the read.

First trading day of a new month. Let’s hope Nov is easier on #corn than Oct was. Nearby finished Oct down 53c (-10.6%) for their worst monthly performance since Jun 2023
Historically, it was the 2nd-worst Oct in the data going back to 1980. Only Oct 2008 was worse

Markets Under Pressure: Brazil’s real fell 8%, funds liquidated nearly a carryout’s worth of #corn length, and oil stayed above $100. This week’s Weekender looks at the export, currency and energy pressures shaping markets—and what stands to move them next.
