coding with ai is incredibly boring, change my mind developers are problem solvers, there is no fun or gratification in writing prompts for a machine to do the work coding exercises the brain, and when the novelty wears off from having ai generate features quickly... are we just glorified copywriters with tech knowledge?

if you always feel low on energy, or sick of sitting on your ass on a laptop all day then and not eating the “best choice meals”… then maybe try running? i haven’t taken my own advice in 3 years - but i’m back. tonight was my 46th run since coming back to running, over the Severn Bridge (from Wales to England and back). tough inclines the entire way. i finished 41st out of 338 runners. happy with it. when i run, there’s no headphones, no distractions, just the wind and the tip tap of my feet, the world feels different - especially at night time when you’re alone. it’s a great reminder of simply being human, to just enjoy the world outside and get off the devices that forever control our modern lives. and then the next day… sitting on the laptop for a bit isn’t so bad. and once the world quietens down once more, instead of reaching for the tv remote… we attack the streets and let ourselves process the day, the week, the plan. it’s not so much about running and stomping the pavement 10,000 times a night, it’s about a simple timeout that we all deserve and need.

everyone's busy automating outreach with ai… i went the other way… …personally emailing people who sign up to funforms.com no template or “quick question” this week someone signed up from the uni where i did my work experience said hi properly and asked if the radio station's still going (where i was an epic song-chooser for 5 days) she replied just over an hour later with exactly what she's building and why fun forms might be the one: that reply doesn't happen if the email's generic. people can smell a template and ignore you. being personable matters more nowadays

i see so many people trying to lose weight, they gym like crazy for weeks and then boom, fall off the wagon and that’s it… …until another reactive behaviour episode happens, and they start it all over again months later sustainable is the only way, which involves not doing it all the time and being relaxed about it, incorporate it into daily habits and don’t overthink it, weight loss is not a two week “fix” you need to grind out and move on with the reality is doing anything ALL the time always ends in one thing: hating it if you had a new Ferrari it’d be fun to drive twice a week for 1 hour. you’d love and savour every drive. if you had to drive it 6 hours a day, every day, in two weeks you’d be hating it and the thrill would be long gone. so: plan not to hate your new hobby/habbit/goal and you will actually stick with it it’s so simple it’s difficult 🙂

i don’t wake up at 4am and hit the gym, but… @bryan_johnson has been messaging me for tips on looking this radiant of an evening at age 35 my biggest tip was just use whatever framework you’re happy with, the end user doesn’t care

finished my first half marathon on the weekend, epic run (my favourite yet) had a great time and surprised myself have been back running only a few months after 3 years off, injured myself 3 times because my cardio system apparently never forgot all the years of running but my legs did and i started back too harsh building the foundation back up now and staying focused

imagine telling someone in 20 years that we used to manually write software the same way we’d now look at someone doing a 50-digit calculation by hand instead of reaching for a calculator we’re closer to that future than we realise

this was a fun addition and makes a 'web app' feel more 'native app' with a gesture and clicking a delete button still exists for the retro folk
couldn't get a match on @tinder? skill issue. fixable. practice your swipe (to delete) our form fields and by the weekend you'll be deadly.

'how can we teach them they can swipe-delete?' was a thought of mine so after using the delete button the first time, a simple hint teaches them

some days i marvel at the wonders of ai... and then you see yourself in a mirror selfie with long hair and a dress and it all comes crashing down

if you want to build something truly brilliant, then “it works” does not mean “it’s acceptable” you can always do better, and there’s a quote i always refer to about going the “extra mile” because the road is “always quiet” and it’s true - most people can never be bothered, and if you can, you’re ahead of the rest… and everyone else can feel and see it

ugh fine some more pics due to unpopular demand of people that need to get into ridiculously modded classic cars S3 engine (1.8T 20v) makes 400.4hp to be precise and 460nm torque, ~950kg if you ever want to zigzag up the road at warp speed while contemplating your survival, you’re welcome to a passenger ride 🤣

what's it called when you just commit claude code output with a view to 'review later' and then later turns into 6 days and you can't even remember what it was anymore
