Xcode 27.2 ships with a new skill for agents to work with Instruments, as well as an update to the SwiftUI specialist skill. Love that my apps can get better just by upgrading!

The AI world we live in offers the joy of creating hyper-personalized apps. I wanted an app to truly study Beethoven's piano sonatas, including comparing recordings, taking notes, and viewing scores. So I created a beautiful Mac app in an evening with Xcode. Feels like magic.

Some fun for the weekend: Simon Leeb's talk on ElementaryUI, an experimental server-side web framework built with Swift and SwiftWasm. Check out the video: youtube.com/watch?v=OmQ881sO… Version 0.9 shipped today 🎉 If you know Swift, the web sample below will feel very intuitive.

Fantastic to see the Xcode work for the new MacBook finally within touch of developers. High-fidelity testing of iPhone apps is now at your fingertips...
Mobile devs this one’s for you: test your apps directly on the MacBook Pro’s touchscreen!!!! 👆📲

I haven't been this excited about smartphone apps since 2008. The iPhone Duo seems to have galvanized the developer community, leading to an explosion of novel concepts and new designs. Feels like the iPhone 3G all over again, and I'm *very much* here for it

It's not a new feature, but everyone I've shown this Apple Watch tip to has fallen in love with it. It's a great, subtle way to check you're not running late for a meeting while staying focused on a conversation. support.apple.com/guide/watc…

"The latest version of NetNewsWire for iOS supports iPhone Duo... We were already using standard controls... and paying attention to size classes... We built the app using Xcode 27.1 and the default iOS SDK that comes with it, and that’s it." netnewswire.blog/2026/10/16/…

Congrats to the team! Amazing to run a model of Muse Spark Open's caliber and scale this efficiently, right from your desk. Mac Studio keeps pushing the boundaries of on-device AI!

If you're using Claude Code, Codex or Cursor to prototype for the iPhone Duo, make sure to run this command, with the argument underlined in red Because Xcode 27.1 ships with updated coding skills that specifically detail how to handle app resistibility for the iPhone Duo

The trend is continuing of big apps moving native to take advantage of the lack of abstraction and full platform access. Who else?
Coinbase is going native too. Judging by how many teams reached out after our native announcement, expect more of these soon.

Xcode 27 exposes 50+ tools that agents can use via MCP to create, build, configure, test, and debug. Here's a useful reference list of what's available to agents like Claude, Antigravity, and Codex.

Swift 6.4 has a couple of changes that make Swift outside Apple platforms feel more deliberate. Swift Build is now the default build engine in SwiftPM, so the same build system is used across macOS, Linux and Windows. Subprocess also reached 1.0, giving Swift a stable cross-platform API for launching and interacting with processes. Neither feature is flashy, but together they remove some of the “platform-specific glue” that CLI, server-side and cross-platform Swift projects have historically needed. That is the part of Swift 6.4 I find most interesting: the tooling around the language is becoming more portable, not just the language itself. #Swift #ServerSideSwift swift.org/blog/swift-6.4-rel…

Well spotted, and thank you for recognizing the hard work of the team, @twostraws! JSON should be easier to manage in source control, more readable for humans, and easier for agents to work with. Exciting times for Xcode.
I don't think I ever swear on social media, but this one is worth it: holy shit! A JSON-based project format for Xcode! 🤯
