The rally was the 3rd action members have taken in an escalation plan to put pressure on university admin to bargain a fair contract with the workers. Local 267 members packed the bargaining room while allies lined the hallways in a show of solidarity as management entered.

It's the global day of dockworker action against war and genocide, and this is what Rome looks like right now. A contact from Italy's Unione Sindacale di Base sent me this photo from near the Colosseum. He says 100k demonstrators are in the streets of Rome, 2 mil across Italy.

ILWU Locals 2 and 34 rallied today in Oakland in solidarity with the international dockworkers' day of action against genocide and war at 113 ports in 22 countries. (It was a rally, not a work stoppage.) The pics are from Middle Harbor Shoreline Park, courtesy of a union member.

Campuses are stronger when all the workers fight together! MIT grad students, facilities workers and undergrads are out on the picket line to give MIT admin one last chance to settle at the bargaining table before they strike.

We mourn the passing of Dolores Huerta, a union leader, feminist, survivor, & civil rights activist who shaped the course of labor history. She co-founded the United Farm Workers Association (UFW) & fought back against discrimination and the blatant mistreatment of farm workers.

During the course of her life, she negotiated contracts that improved working conditions for farm workers, which included reducing the use of toxic pesticides and winning unemployment and healthcare benefits.

Huerta also coined the famous phrase, "sí se puede" ("yes we can" in English) which has helped invigorate the labor movement and civil rights movement for decades. She will be remembered as one of the most influential labor leaders of our time.
