The University of Nairobi has called on its alumni to take a more active role in improving student accommodation, upgrading facilities and mentoring students. The appeal was made during the final alumni breakfast meeting under the Adopt-a-Hostel Campaign, held on Friday, 30 October 2026, with alumni from the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences and Law. Among the distinguished alumni present were renowned lawyer and scholar Prof. PLO Lumumba, former MP Hon. Gitobu Imanyara and Dr. Barrack Muluka. The alumni discussed practical ways to support the University, including adopting entire hostels, refurbishing individual rooms, improving shared facilities, providing furniture and equipment, funding scholarships, offering internships and mentoring students. The three-month breakfast series has engaged alumni across all 10 faculties, opening up conversations on how they can contribute to the University's development.
