Acting Secretary of the Army Adam Telle just announced a major addition to the U.S. Army’s Permissive Test Range Expansion Initiative at the 5th Annual Northeast Indiana Defense Summit. Through an agile partnership between the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) and the Indiana National Guard, two powerhouse locations in Indiana are now designated as premier test sites ready for private-sector test and experimentation of cutting-edge drone and counter-drone capabilities: Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center: Over 34,000 acres of secure proving ground with dedicated restricted airspace soaring up to 40,000 feet. Muscatatuck Training Center: DoW’s largest, most realistic 1,000-acre urban training site, blending physical infrastructure with cyber and electromagnetic capabilities.

Gen. Christopher LaNeve, Acting Chief of Staff and Vice Chief of Staff, presented the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award to 29 outstanding company-grade officers from across the Total Army. He told them the mission remains fixed—to win our wars. Everything else is corollary to that dedication. These leaders train Soldiers and prepare them to answer the Nation’s call. Duty, Honor, Country. This We’ll Defend. #Army

While NASCAR pit crews will be working hard down the road at Talladega Superspeedway tomorrow, I met with the “Pit Crew of the American Warfighter” at Anniston Army Depot yesterday with HASC Chairman @RepMikeRogersAL. The work done in Anniston is fundamental to how we equip the warfighter and support  @DeptofWar’s "Arsenal of Freedom." Our ability to remain the most lethal and dominant land force in human history begins with the steel, sweat and expertise within this depot. Read more: army.mil/article/296296/acti…

Today, Vice Chief of Staff and Acting Chief of Staff Gen. Christopher LaNeve and leaders from the Army Staff spoke to Army War College students at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. They discussed the Army’s new operational warfighting guidance How the Army Fights, which instructs Soldiers at every level on what they need to do to stay ahead of the pacing threat. Gen. LaNeve urged them to take advantage of their time at AWC, become experts in their fields, and stay mentally and physically fit. “What we have that the pacing threat doesn’t have is the American Soldier -- and the American leader,” he told them.
