But if this was the case, the ANC’s results would be way higher than what we are seeing.
🔴 TODAY 🔴 The disgruntled EFF Leader Julius Sello Malema says South Africans "are married to history not brains" i.e they vote along history lines. He emphasis that the immigration is not the reason they voted like this.

Seems Gauteng did the real nonsense 🕊️
WATCH | DA’s Gauteng Federal chairperson Solly Msimanga supports the DA’s stance on informal settlement, stating that the ANC created an unrealistic expectation that everyone would get housing. Video: Koena Mashale.

It’s foolish in aid of a careerist pivot. He benefited from the existence of several party alternatives to the extent that he was even an MP. On my end, I’m just not holding space for this hypocrisy 🙏🏾.
Food for thought: “Foolish” OR a different point of view. Dr Ndlozi is exercising his Right to Freedom of Expression, as provided for in the Bill of Rights, Chapter 2, Constitution Act of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 Our democracy thrives not only through voting, but also through the interrogation of the party-political landscape. Our democracy deepens when we are able to respect the views of our compatriots, even those with whom we disagree. (I welcome his invitation for a deliberation on the rampant fragmentation of the black vote)

“The old South Africa is gone” yet 1994 kicked off as a coalition. This is what happens when you don’t read.

“I was already awake when the singing began again in the early morning…And then, unexpectedly the voice of Vuyisile Mini came roaring down the hushed passages. Evidently standing on a stool, with his face reaching up to a barred vent his cell, his unmistakable bass voice was enunciating his final message in Xhosa to the world he was leaving. In a voice charged with emotion but stubbornly defiant he spoke of the struggle waged by the African National Congress and of his absolute conviction of the victory to come. And then it was [Wilson] Khayingo’s turn, followed by [Zinakile] Mkaba, as they too defied all prison rules to shout out their valedictions. Soon after, I heard the door of their cell being opened. Murmuring voices reached my straining ears, & then three martyrs broke into a final poignant melody which seemed to fill the whole prison sound & then gradually faded away into the distant…condemned section.’- Ben Turok reflects on this day in history when MK operatives Vuyisile Mini, Wilson Khayingo and Zinakile Mkaba were executed.

Deeply ahistorical take. Coalitions at local government have been with us for 10 years now. At national level it’s been 2 years. This is something real political analysts foresaw 20 years ago. The founders of the Democratic dispensation understood this is how things work.
The old South Africa is gone. Yesterday's South Africa has departed. The defining factor of the first 32 years, ANC monopoly, is over. A new South Africa is emerging, with many parties wrestling over our future. Democracy is alive and well. Now we will see. To 2029, and beyond

While I'm not against this suggestion, unemployment rates are too high for us to blame low voter turnout on the retail sector. Even the employed don't vote. They treat this day like a holiday and not a time to perform their civic duty.
EFF’s Treasurer-General, Omphile Maotwe says a total national shutdown will improve voter turnout. #LGE2026

I'm sad about the low voter turnout. 7 elections in, and so many have given up on the process. We need to do something about this.

Not surprised at all. Campaigning WORKS. I’ve been this side for 2 elections now and they’re the only ones aggressively campaigning. SACP also pushed so I’m not surprised by this result so far.

This is what happens when you don’t ensure your house is in order. The voter registration process isn’t just for first-time voters. It’s for you to check that your details are correct especially in regard to where you will be voting. This on her, not the IEC.
Kwasuka lokho, and she is likely not the only individual experiencing this issue. These are local elections meant to address the needs of residents within their own municipalities. Requiring her to vote in a different city for a mayor who will not represent her interests raises serious concerns about the effectiveness and fairness of the electoral process the IEC administers! @IECSouthAfrica, shame on you!

GAUTENG #LGE2026 | An actor, Tumisho Masha (@TumishoMasha), has contravened the Electoral Act 73 of 1998. The matter will be further handled by the Gauteng SAPS. You are reminded that it is a criminal offence to photograph a marked ballot paper and/or share it.
