Tune in tomorrow for installment 7 of 8 roll out solar arrays. Last week, we installed this one and saw a greater than 40% increase in power on that channel. Teams across @NASA are spending the day preparing for tomorrow’s spacewalk.

Yes, you can even vote from space! All three US crew members had the privilege of voting from space station. We filled out an electronic ballot and sent it securely to the election officials.

26 years ago, today, Expedition 1 began our continuous habitation of space with NASA astronaut Bill Shepard and cosmonauts Yuri Gidzenko and Sergei Krikalev. Earth is just as stunning and station is still a platform that opens the doors to our future on the moon and, eventually, Mars. In this orbit, on this day, we passed by the blue fishing boats and, in the end, even a little aurora. See if you can spot the landmarks from the map. You’re looking out of the port window of the cupola, so to the left of the line.

Night time lapse, Indonesia to North of Japan. A very lively atmosphere up high, with dizzying human activity down low. Blue lights are fishing trawlers hard at work.

Seen through the Japanese module window: The newly installed solar arrays are rollin’ as they provide 45% more power than previously. We are using that power to perform science, manufacture pharmaceuticals, and pave the way to the moon and, eventually, Mars.

200 days is a lot of time to be in space! A true joy to celebrate that milestone on station with Jessica Watkins!

To observe our globe whirling by, from atop a perch in the vacuum of space, is to experience beauty and awe and wonder (and vulnerability, too) like never before.

Can confirm. It’s always sunny in space. Yesterday, we completed USOS EVA 100 and installed a new solar array on space station. Over 25 years operating in the harshest environment and using the sun’s energy to do it! Here are a few photos taken on the spacewalk.

As I embark on my first spacewalk tomorrow, my colleague Anil and I will be able to count on the support of a Canadian legend: Canadarm2.
À la veille de ma première sortie dans l’espace, mon collègue Anil et moi pourrons compter sur l’appui d’une légende canadienne : Canadarm2.

ALT Canadarm2 extends across the frame, with Earth’s blue horizon, clouds, and ocean visible in the background from the International Space Station. Le Canadarm2 traverse l’image, avec l’horizon bleu de la Terre, des nuages et l’océan visibles en arrière-plan depuis la Station spatiale internationale.

Chez ISS season 2 preview: new chefs, new food, and some old connections are coming soon. We've been growing more plants on station to improve our cultivation techniques. Russian kale, dragoon lettuce, wasabi lettuce. The ground is running a similar crop to compare. Cosmonaut Anna Kikina joins us for a taste test!

I love that we have a HAM radio on the @Space_Station. Thanks to Paul Duke STEM School in Norcross for taking the time today to chat about space exploration!

Roll out solar arrays will be installed during next week's spacewalk. You can see two of them folded and ready to be installed and you can also see how they look when they are installed (look in front of the big ones - the new ones are smaller and slightly tilted).

Canada arm 2 as seen from cupola. It’s been busy preparing for the upcoming spacewalks. It moved from this location to get the solar arrays from SpaceX Dragon 35 trunk, then placed it on a mobile transporter on station. It even loosened bolts for us before the space walks next week! I’m grateful for the help.

We are preparing for a spacewalk next week. To be ready, we have to check out the space suits. Steely eyed Josh Kutryk got in the suit yesterday with the help of Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney. It served as good practice for the real thing and it went smoothly. (Cropping and editing done to photos; originals available @nasa)
