Thanks to the wonder of capitalism roughly 3.5 million people die from lack of clean water, 1.5 million people die from vaccinable diseases, and 9 million people die from hunger each and every year. That's over a 140 million deaths every decade. horizons-newspaper.com/index…

The elite media absolutely never talks about how the Mexican left utterly crushed the corrupt narco-establishment in Mexico and instituted a wildly popular democratic socialist government that’s still going strong after eight years because they wouldn’t want to give you any ideas
🚨: Mexico just went universal, 120 Million citizens now get fre healthcare- No premiums, no copays, no requirements.

I burned a shitload of compute so you don't have to. Releasing the Harness Leaderboard. Which harness should you run your open model in? I ran 28,849 trials to find out. The leaderboard compares nine coding-agent harnesses on open models. In each comparison only the harness changes: the model, provider and reasoning effort stay fixed, and every task gets three attempts. The trials ran GLM-5.3-Flash, DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash and Flint on Terminal-Bench 2.1 and DeepSWE, for $4,746 of inference. Averaged over the three models, mini-swe-agent (@KLieret), a bash-only agent, solves 51.4% of tasks and @openclaw 27.3%. Four others are statistically tied with mini-swe-agent. One of them is Pi (@pidotdev), at 49.4% for $0.29 per solved task, about 45% less than mini-swe-agent's $0.53. The best harness depends on the model: mini-swe-agent on GLM-5.3-Flash, Hermes Agent (@NousResearch) on DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash and Kimi Code (@Kimi_Moonshot) on Flint. @opencode costs $3.35 per solved task, 11.7 times as much as Pi. See Harness Hub's Harness Lens for what the nine harnesses do differently. It documents the prompts, tools and compaction of 34 coding-agent harnesses and links every claim to its source.

Unions under socialism: the dialectics of Chinese labour China’s trade union federation has grown faster than any union federation in history – from 134 million to around 300 million members in two decades, with union density of around 75 percent, compared with around 20 percent in Britain and 10 percent in the US. Yet in the West, including on much of the left, Chinese unions are routinely dismissed as fake or as tools of an authoritarian state. In this contribution to a @CTW_ATC panel on @immanuelness new book on the dialectics of Chinese labour, I try to explain why. Trade unions work differently under socialism: workers are not struggling against the state as an agent of capital, but with the state against capital. And China is still a developing country, where modernisation is essential to escaping dependence on the imperialist core. Seeing only the “sweatshop” snapshot, I argue, is a fundamentally undialectical way of looking at Chinese labour, and it misses the whole trajectory and the class dynamics. youtube.com/watch?v=LLp9qrZ9…

China is building the kind of transit hub most countries only draw in pitch decks. Shanghai is stitching its airport and high-speed rail into one building — step off a plane, step onto a bullet train, same roof. Billed as the country's first "air-rail" hub. The West is still debating whether HSR is even "worth it." China just merged the airport into it.

China’s Fifth Plenum decision is out. Beijing wants the Party to have more influence in private tech firms. “Strengthen Party-building efforts in platform companies, technology-innovation enterprises, and other such firms; establish a mechanism for dynamically adjusting the elevation of Party organizations within internet companies to higher administrative levels of management; and ensure that responsibilities for Party-building are fulfilled.”

Tell Sam Altman that I use my 64GB of RAM to run print("Hello, World!"). I want him to know it's me.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman believes people owning RAM is wasteful, and that it belongs in data centers instead. "From a global allocation perspective, actually, it’s quite terrible to have everyone have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer."

‼️ WARNING: Updating the poisoned Claude Code extension won't remove its backdoor, Kevin Beaumont says. Cursor, which served the bad build to up to 5,000 users, warns that even uninstalling it may not be enough. The backdoor never lived only in the extension. On loading, it planted the attacker's SSH key and its own startup scripts, which keep trying to open a tunnel to the attacker every 60 seconds or so. An update swaps the extension's files but leaves the key and the scripts in place.
