As part of our media partnership with JWeekly, we’re sharing a new article by Z3 Conference speaker Meg Keene: “Dispel the darkness by investing in Jewish art and Jewish artists.”
Meg makes the case for investing in the artists and stories that help us understand ourselves and shape a Jewish future.

I was honored to be asked to write this essay by @z3_project—where I’ll be speaking this weekend—for @jewishsf.
“We raise scientists who read novels, mathematicians who love symphonies, engineers who collect paintings. We have always understood that art is not incidental to Jewish life; it is how we understand ourselves and pass our heritage to the next generation.
This is not work we can outsource to a handful of the wealthiest donors. We have to believe our culture matters enough to attend concerts, visit exhibitions, subscribe to literary magazines, buy books and, yes, write checks. If we want Jewish culture to survive, we have to be willing to pay for it.”

As part of our media partnership with J.Weekly, we’re sharing a new article by Z3 Conference speaker David Hazony: “On giving up the word ‘Zionism,’ my offer is this: nothing.”
David argues against retiring the word “Zionism,” even as its meaning and use are fiercely contested. His piece speaks directly to a question at the heart of this year’s conference: Are we still Zionists?

MY LATEST: The theme of this year's @z3_project conference is "Are We Still Zionists?"
So to make my own answer clear, I did the meme.

What can a people build together before it agrees on everything?
In Joshua 18, Shiloh becomes a shared sacred home for 369 years, even while much remains unresolved.
This week in The Weekly Zionist, @AmitaiFraiman and @ZackBodner ask what that can teach us about disagreement, obligation, and building Jewish life together.

I’m humbled, and honored to be joining @z3_project as a fellow, where I’ll be working on a book on creating a new Jewish golden age, and what we can build when we work together and choose to do the work of peoplehood.

Jewish culture is not only something we inherit; it is something we make together. Becca Goldstein and Ben Richman of Ivri invite participants to explore Ivri, the Hebrew identity of ‘one who crosses over.’ Through guided reflection, shared inquiry and collective ritual, participants will consider the thresholds facing their personal and collective lives and what it takes to move beyond the familiar. The aim is to practice Jewish culture together, not simply talk about it.

Shlomit Levy Bard’s (RE)Defining Zionism project begins with portraits and words drawn from conversations with Israelis whose answers do not fit a single definition. Participants will encounter those voices, sit with statements that challenge their assumptions, and practice listening closely enough to understand the experience behind another person’s answer. The goal is not to agree on one definition of Zionism. It is to see what changes when another person’s story complicates your own.
