RE: SENATOR ROCHAS OKOROCHA’S REMARKS ON PETER OBI’S SINGLE-TERM COVENANT
We have reviewed Senator Rochas Okorocha’s comments on Channels Television’s *Politics Today*.
We accept his description of Peter Obi as “a fantastic gentleman; clear in his head.” On the claim that a single term is “a four-year gambling,” we respectfully disagree.
Section 135(2) of the 1999 Constitution provides that a President shall leave office after four years and may seek a further four years. In law, “may” is permissive, not mandatory. A single term is therefore constitutional. It is not a gamble.
Nigeria already tested an eight-year tenure between 2015 and 2023. The result was rising inflation, a weakened naira, soaring public debt, widespread poverty, and insecurity across the country. That is the real balance sheet of prolonged tenure without performance.
Peter Obi’s offer is a performance bond, not a gamble. He has pledged to serve one term, to be judged strictly by results, and to hand over power in 2031 in recognition that it is the turn of the North. This is sacrifice for national stability.
Leadership is measured by impact, not duration. Nigeria’s problem has never been insufficient time. It has been the repeated failure to use time well. Mr. Obi proposes to reverse that culture: one term dedicated entirely to delivery.
When a man entitled to eight years voluntarily chooses four and invites the nation to judge him by results, he is not gambling. He is sacrificing.
This is not a gamble. It is a rescue mission with a deadline.

240 million Nigerians and Nigerians yet unborn are being sucked into a Debt Peonage by the Tinubu Adminstration and the ruling APC, with senseless borrowings.
As at now, Nigeria’s total public debt stock is well over ₦166.79 trillion ($120.93 billion).
Now, the government wants to borrow more. How can? How so? For what?
How has the previous borrowings been spent? Were the funds invested in regenerative ventures? I think not!
By the way by definition, "Debt peonage (also called debt bondage or bonded labour) is a system where a person is forced to work to pay off a real or manufactured debt, with terms that make the debt virtually impossible to finish paying."
Nigeria will be OK, but not through frivolous borrowings the kind APC is now executing to the detriment of Nigeria.

EBONYI STATE: SECURITY, CORRUPTION, NATIONAL UNITY AND THE DIGNITY OF EVERY NIGERIAN
My grassroots sensitisation tour brought me to Ebonyi, the Salt State, today, 29th October 2026, following yesterday’s visit to Akwanga, Nasarawa State, as our nationwide Town Hall Series continues.
In Ebonyi, I made a stop at Nkalagu and Ezillo to greet and acknowledge our supporters and briefly visited the market in Ezillo, where I interacted with our hardworking women who trade and bring farm produce to market.
In Abakaliki, I joined our party supporters on a road walk to the venue of our town hall meeting.
At the town hall, participants raised concerns about insecurity, particularly kidnapping and banditry; corruption; government borrowing; and the deteriorating condition of our hospitals, schools, and other essential amenities.
The most touching contribution came from a participant representing persons living with disabilities, who spoke about the challenges they face and the apparent lack of adequate support from government and society.
I assured the participants that, upon election, our foremost priorities will be to unite the country, decisively tackle insecurity and confront corruption, while pulling our people out of poverty.
To our brothers and sisters living with disabilities, I reiterated that the compassion of a nation is measured by how it treats its most vulnerable citizens. We will work with state governments to ensure their inclusion, proper care and dignity.
We will also invest massively in education and healthcare, including at least one fully functional primary healthcare centre in every political ward across Nigeria, while working to reduce the cost of living and expand opportunities for all.
I sincerely thank the participants, our party members, the organisers and the good people of Ebonyi State for their warm reception, enthusiasm and active participation.
A New Nigeria is POssible, and Nigeria will be OK! -PO

“Peter Obi was the only candidate who submitted a report on his campaign expenditure after the last election. A man of such integrity and accountability deserves the support of Nigerians.”

Nigeria needs leadership built on transparency, accountability, and trust. These are the values Nigerians should demand from anyone seeking to lead the country. Obi stand a chance of transparency government.

You did a good Job with the campaign council.
Young people were giving roles to prove themselves in the grand scheme of things.
History will be kind to you sir
Today, while speaking to some party officials, I made reference to the inauguration of our National Campaign Council and reiterated my full support for Mr. Ibrahim Abdulkarim as Director-General of the NDC National Campaign Council.
He is young and may not have held political office in Nigeria before. In fact, that is precisely why he has been given this appointment. We must create opportunities for young Nigerians to learn, serve, demonstrate their capacity and grow into leadership, and Nigerian youths CAN.
The NDC is a youth and women-friendly party and a party of the common people. We are building a coalition of ordinary Nigerians to stand together against oppression and work towards a better future for our country.
I have directed all NDC state chairmen and party officials to give the Director-General and all members of the Campaign Council maximum support. All candidates must equally receive the full support of party members, stakeholders, support groups and NGOs in mobilisation, election preparations, canvassing for votes and protecting the votes cast by Nigerians.
Nigerian youths and women must take ownership of the NDC and its mission, actively participate in its growth and lead the collective effort to build a better Nigeria.
We are aware of the interest expressed by party members, leaders and stakeholders in serving on the National Campaign Council. So far, we have inaugurated only its top leadership. The committees, directorates and coordinating teams at the state, local government and ward levels are being compiled to ensure broad participation in our grassroots mobilisation and campaign activities.
Together, let us build a people-driven party that gives every Nigerian, especially our youths and women, a stake in the future of our country.
NDC all the way!
~HSD
