When @ACF_Adams looks back on his time leading ACF, he hopes to see three lasting changes.
✅ A home for every child, with foster homes ready and waiting for kids who need them.
✅ An end to the orphan tax so foster youth can keep their Social Security survivor benefits.
✅ Less red tape so federal resources can reach the front lines.

HUD has published a new RFI seeking feedback on the Melania Trump Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) initiative.
We welcome suggestions to improve operations, help foster youth navigate the housing search and build lasting stability after assistance ends, and expand this program to more young people.
Comments due Dec. 14. Submit via the Federal Register. federalregister.gov/document…
ACF has reduced its regulatory footprint by 30% and removed nearly three-quarters of its accumulated guidance documents to make it easier to put federal resources to work.
On "Heritage Explains," ACF Assistant Secretary Alex Adams shares what cutting red tape means for America’s children and families and the people who serve them: youtube.com/watch?v=TiSaGsbS…
Youth with high-acuity needs tend to spend more time in foster care and are more likely to age out of the child welfare system, often leaving them to navigate adulthood alone.
A new ACF issue brief examines where these youth are placed and what happens when they leave care, helping states better plan for the support these young people need.

Thanks to the leadership of @FLOTUS, foster youth now have access to Fostering the Future Accounts.
These accounts are a game changer for youth aging out of foster care and provide critical financial support for housing, education, or medical expenses. All foster youth have been enrolled in Fostering the Future Accounts, but now it is up to states to claim these accounts for the foster children in their state.
Faster, more reliable out-of-state child abuse and neglect registry checks can help expedite the licensing process for foster, kin, and adoptive families.
A new ACF policy brief explains the federal requirements and practical steps states can take to speed up the approval process while protecting children's safety.

Oklahoma was the first state to join A Home for Every Child, helping lead the way in improving the ratio of available foster homes to children in care. To improve their ratio, they have:
✔️Cut paperwork and simplified approvals so relatives can become caregivers sooner.
✔️Used local data and community partnerships to recruit foster families where they’re needed most.
✔️Brought support directly to families through home visiting programs that help children remain safely at home.

Serving America’s children and families shouldn’t require a maze of paperwork.
A new ASPE report found states administer at least 14 federal child welfare programs, resulting in more than 30,000 hours of reporting paperwork.

Thousands of reports of abuse and neglect involving unaccompanied minors were made during the previous administration. Little to no action was taken.
On day one, the Trump Administration got to work finding the missing children who had crossed the border between 2021–2025. The Trump Administration has now located 163,445 of the 478,886 unaccompanied minors who entered the U.S. during the Biden Administration.
@JohnE_Fabb sits down with @MarkSKrikorian on the “Parsing Immigration Policy” podcast to explain how the Trump Administration is working to find unaccompanied children, and to debunk the myths about the UAC Program.

Idaho is leading the nation with the best ratio of available foster homes to children in foster care!
With 102 homes for every 100 children in care, Idaho has demonstrated achieving A Home for Every Child is possible. Their success follows several policies and practices, including:
✔️ Building strong partnerships with courts, community partners, and the state legislature.
✔️ Streamlining foster parent licensing and approval processes.
✔️ Investing in prevention strategies and the use of predictive analytics to better assess family risk so more children can remain safely at home.

Nationwide, we have a shortage of foster homes relative to the number of children in foster care.
Multiple factors contribute to this shortage, including excessive federal red tape, barriers to foster family recruitment, licensing, and retention, as well as a lack of resources for foster parents.
The good news: these factors can be addressed within any state as they work to improve the ratio of homes to kids and achieve A Home for Every Child.
@ACF_Adams joins the Moment of Truth podcast to explain.
To achieve A Home for Every Child, states need not slam the door on qualified, loving foster families just because of their sincerely-held religious beliefs. Nationwide, we need more families willing to open their homes to children in care, not more barriers standing in their way.
A recent legal victory will now require Washington State to change foster family licensing requirements — a major win for religious freedom.

.@ACF_Adams joins @americanmoment to discuss the Trump Administration’s progress ending the "orphan tax" across the country, and the work that remains.
South Carolina has one of the best ratios of available foster homes to children in need of care across the nation. To improve their ratio, they have:
• Modernized foster family licensing.
• Prioritized placement with relatives whenever possible, making kinship care a central foster parent recruitment and permanency strategy.
• Expanded supports for families to help reduce entry into foster care.
