How is it possible to spend $70million on a project to track the spending of fewer than 1,000 people and still not have it work? That’s several multiples of the cost of a general ledger for a large company!

Hey @KensingtonRoyal, you’ve been proudly supporting England all tournament. Not a word for Australia. Not that we expect it. We prefer the honesty. Without the patronising pat on the head in defeat. Support @lionesses & let us get on with our business, mate. @AusRepublic
What a phenomenal performance from the @Lionesses – on to the final! Commiserations to @TheMatildas, you've played brilliantly and been fantastic co-hosts of this World Cup. W

I had this experience in reverse. « You can use the N95 mask you bought for the bushfires in Black summer 19/20 for the pandemic »
“You can use the N95 mask you bought for the pandemic to filter out the wildfire smoke engulfing the entire Northeast” is a neat little sentence that lets you know we’re in the fun part of the century that future historians are going to talk about a lot.

It's Public Education Day, and I'm #ProudToBePublic, having gone to public schools for my whole education. This is me in Year 6, the year I had Mr Duncan, the best teacher ever, who taught me to write well, even though I just wanted to do maths!

My great great great grandmother supported her family including five children by writing books and anti slavery tracts. Her book of household hints called Cottage Comforts went to 17 editions at least. talesofthose.com/2018/08/31/…

Annually, the government here reports on whether it is "closing the gap" betwen indigenous and non indigenous Australians.  A key measure is mortality, and the gap between indigenous and non indigenous mortality rates is widening, rather than narrowing. actuarialeye.com/2023/03/23/…

One more bump for the evening crew. Tomorrow is the send off for this dark, hateful ideology. It should be safe - there'll be more people from the ANU Women's Association alone opposing her than in KJK's entire crowd of supporters. Hope you can make it, Canberra!
CANBERRA : Grand finale counter-protest KJK's "Springtime for Hitler" tour tomorrow (Thurs). Meet 11.30am, bottom of 1st section Parliament House Lawns. Look for ANU Student. Assoc. gazebos. Also ANU Women's Association have carpool/buses from Kambri Lawns @ 11.15am. Pls share

We stand in unwavering support of the trans community, today and always. The anti trans actions yesterday have no place in a world where everyone deserves to live free from discrimination, vilification, violence and harassment. #TransRightsAreHumanRights – at Castlemaine, Victoria

We condemn in the strongest terms the transphobic displays and hate speech which took place outside the Victorian Parliament today. These actions should be a clarion call to ensure transphobia does not take hold in our public and political discourse. #TransRightsAreHumanRights

Thanks @H4wkm0th for a brilliant book, and @drvolts for the podcast interview with Erica Thompson that made me read it.
Book Review: Escape from Model Land. A book is for any actuary, or anyone who builds models. I highlighted a lot, so I've tried and give you enough of a flavour of Thompson's insights so that you feel compelled to read it yourself. actuarialeye.com/2023/03/12/…
