November 2, 1917. British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour put 67 words in a letter backing “a national home for the Jewish people.” The Balfour Declaration became the first political endorsement of Zionism by a major world power. 109 years later, Iran and its terror proxies still threaten the Jewish state.

In Rabat, AJC's delegation met with Ahmed Touizi, Speaker of Morocco's House of Representatives, to discuss the enduring U.S.-Morocco partnership, regional developments, and the importance of advancing parliamentary dialogue and cooperation. The meeting underscored Morocco's longstanding commitment to coexistence, religious pluralism, and strong ties with the United States. AJC's Center for a New Middle East is proud to deepen our engagement with Moroccan leaders and partners as we work to strengthen understanding, cooperation, and shared values.

The perpetrator of the 2025 antisemitic terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado, which targeted a group of people calling for the release of hostages held in Gaza, has pleaded guilty to 12 federal charges, including nine hate crime charges. The June 2025 attack claimed the life of 82-year-old Karen Diamond and left several others with life-threatening injuries and permanent disabilities. We extend our deepest condolences to Karen’s family and loved ones as they continue to grieve this devastating loss. This guilty plea marks an important step toward accountability. No one should face violence for being Jewish or supporting Israel. Antisemitic violence must be met with justice and an unequivocal message that hatred has no place in our society. justice.gov/opa/pr/man-plead…

Laura Merage has faced the horrors of violent antisemitism more intimately than most of us can imagine. Last week in Denver, we came together—bringing leaders across communities, faiths and politics—to fight for something better. Read her words here: ejewishphilanthropy.com/i-wa…

What does it mean to belong when being Jewish comes with conditions? In @JNS_org, AJC’s Dr. Alexandra Herzog reflects on the growing exclusion facing Jewish communities and the troubling pattern of Jews being asked to defend or denounce Israel as a condition of acceptance. Jews should never feel compelled to hide their identity to feel safe or included. Supporting Jewish communities, including Ireland’s, requires more than words. It requires meaningful action to ensure that Jewish life can thrive openly, safely, and proudly. ajc.org/news/in-ireland-and-…

Antisemitism is not for Jews to solve alone. It is a societal problem that requires all of us to act. Melanie Maron Pell, AJC Chief Engagement Officer, and Meggie Wyschogrod Fredman, AJC Director of U.S. Jewish Communal Engagement and Partnerships, reflect on the Together at the Crossroads: A Congress for Allyship & Unity in Denver, where they joined 450 leaders from across society gathered to confront antisemitism and turn shared concern into collective action. Their takeaway? Lasting progress requires tailored strategies across sectors, renewed allyship, confronting hateful rhetoric before it leads to violence, and greater collaboration across the Jewish community. You’ve probably seen it online: “Zio.” It’s not slang and it’s not harmless. It’s an antisemitic slur popularized by David Duke, a former Grand Wizard of the KKK and used to target Jews while evading content moderation. As Election Day approaches, expect to see more of it. Election seasons fuel conspiracy theories, many of which recycle centuries-old antisemitic tropes about Jewish power and control. @AlyssaRosenheck breaks down how “Zio” repackages those conspiracies as political critique and why recognizing coded language matters. Stopping antisemitism starts with understanding how it hides. ajc.org/translatehate/Zionis…

55% of American Jews altered their behavior in the past year out of fear of antisemitism. 91% feel less safe as a Jewish person in the U.S. due to violent attacks that took place last year. These numbers from AJC's State of Antisemitism in America 2025 Report must be a call to action for America's leaders. Tell Congress to pass the Jewish American Security Act as soon as possible. An @AJCLatino delegation led by @AJCCEO Ted Deutch arrived in Panama earlier this month, shortly after a devastating earthquake. The delegation included AJC Latino Council Members from Costa Rica, Brazil, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Panama. The delegation expressed solidarity with the Panamanian people and met with President @JoseRaulMulino at the Presidential Palace, where AJC presented him with the Light Unto the Nations Award in recognition of his commitment to democracy and his longstanding friendship with the Jewish people. AJC's Belfer Institute for Latino and Latin American Affairs looks forward to continuing its strong partnership with President Mulino and the people of Panama.

Voter participation is central to thriving democracies. Schools play a vital role in building the next generation of engaged and well-informed voters. However, schools are just as vulnerable to divisiveness, misinformation, and polarization as any institution. Election season can be rife with conspiratorial, binary thinking and oversimplified narratives, the same patterns that fuel antisemitism. AJC's Center for Education Advocacy supports school leaders with guidance about how to teach about elections, foster inclusive classroom discussion on challenging subjects, and address antisemitic or inflammatory rhetoric that may surface during campaigns: ajc.org/news/guidance-for-k-…

An assailant attacked Israel’s embassy in Belgrade, Serbia, shouting “Allahu Akbar” and wounding a guard with a knife before being killed by security forces. This is the second attack on the Israeli embassy in Belgrade in two years. Growing radicalization has made Jews and Israelis in Europe less safe and poses significant national security threats. It is no secret that terror cells and their backers are actively recruiting and radicalizing young people to target Jewish and Israeli targets across Europe. We welcome Interior Minister Ivica Dačić’s decision to raise Serbia’s terror alert to its highest level and urge European leaders to take further concrete steps to prevent terrorism and protect vulnerable targets. ajc.org/playbook/diplomatic-…

We welcome Peru’s adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism, an important step in strengthening efforts to recognize and respond to antisemitism.

AJC helped lead the development of the 2005 European Monitoring Centre
Working Definition of Antisemitism, which became the basis for the IHRA, adopted in 2016. AJC has long championed its widespread adoption and implementation.

@AJCLatino will continue to urge governments across the Americas to take decisive action by recognizing antisemitism through the IHRA, the Global Guidelines for Countering Antisemitism, and other means.

In Berlin, a man was knocked to the ground and brutally assaulted simply because he was Jewish.   We wish him a swift recovery and thank the police for investigating this abhorrent act of antisemitic violence.   Jews in Germany have the right to live free from fear and violence. The German government and law enforcement must do everything in their power to protect Jewish communities and ensure that this right is upheld.
