Maine is crazy, you can unintentionally stumble upon an old pet cemetery that has a headstone for a horse who died 100 years ago and it’s like, “he was a good man” Anyway happy Halloween!

Pope Leo XIV bringing the jokes meeting with Villanova and Notre Dame 😂: “Growing up on the south side of Chicago, we oftentimes heard, “Go Irish!” But, as you all know, Prevost graduated from Villanova. So the Pope doesn't take sides. Prevost has another opinion, but we won't do that now.”

Dan Aykroyd remembering his best friend John Candy in I LIKE ME. You can feel the love and admiration in every word. What a beautiful tribute. 🥹
Remembering John Candy (1950–1994) on his birthday. Steve Martin getting emotional while reading the deleted monologue Candy was supposed to deliver in PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES, then struggling to put the script back on the shelf. ♥️

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield

Patrick Stewart once found himself joking with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr about being three knights at the same table. No grand speech, no performance. Just a moment of shared laughter. A long career leaves behind more than great roles. It leaves moments people remember.
This is just Emrata letting Conan accuse her of flirting, acting completely innocent, then gently roasting him for getting flustered. She was in control the entire time.

RIP Patrick Stewart. What an actor. I still can’t believe he agreed to do this scene. And he didn’t even mind when I ruined every take. Legend.

Thought you might appreciate this @JDSalant. Hell, you may have been there. RIP to an exceptional actor and inspiring soul.
#RIP Patrick Stewart of Star Trek and X Men ... On 12-4-1997, after getting a @PressClubDC coffee mug, he was asked, "Just from a purely logical point of view, why is it that a Captain whose name is Jean-Luc Picard have a perfect English accent?" Patrick Stewart answer here:

What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work. My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.

"I was with Milwaukee, started with Milwaukee, traded to St. Louis..." "Why'd they trade you?" "Well because they had seen enough of me... I'm not going to sit here and lie about it, the Cardinals were in dire need of a championship." Very happy for the city of Milwaukee and the Brewer fanbase. Passionate as hell and as welcoming toward visiting rivals as any fanbase I've been around (not terribly bright, but we can't all be perfect). Happiest for Bob. Baseball lost a lot of sparkle when it lost Uecker.
