Every team has tendencies. Here's a tendency of the NE Patriots Offense that I picked up on. Episode 3 of The Advance Report on the way. Here's a sneak peek 👇

Kirby Smart says the best coaches don’t hope for toughness from their team, they demand it everyday in practice
“I asked them that the other day in a team meeting. I said, ‘Guys, what’s different about us?’ There’s been a better energy in practices this year. There’s been a little bit more buy-in. The leadership has held people a little more accountable.”
“We’ve run the ball and stopped the run better. And I said, ‘Why have we done that?’ They said, ‘Well, we made it a point of emphasis, Coach. Y’all said we had to do this. We had to be able to run the ball and we have to be able to stop the run.’ And we have.”
“Last year was a little bit different for Georgia. It was an outlier because we weren’t real good at it. We showed the stats every week in the offseason. We rubbed their nose in it.”
“We made a committed effort in the offseason to say, instead of doing one-on-one pass every day at our light practices, we’re going to do run drills. We’re going to block fronts. We’re going to block stunts and movement.”
“We’re going to really work on stopping the run and running the ball, even if we’re not in pads. And then when we put pads on in the spring, we’re going to do a little more run emphasis. We’re going to throw less RPOs when we run.”
“We’re going to commit to saying, ‘The people are in the box, and you’ve got to block them. You can’t just find ways around it.’ And I think you get what you demand in this world, and you get what you demand in this game. We probably demanded it more. It wasn’t that the last group was not capable. We probably didn’t demand it at that standard.”

#Browns QB Shedeur Sanders on the Saints defense:
"Yeah, I've seen a lot. When I smile, just know that means something. (laughs) I'm maturing, you know what I'm saying? I'm maturing. Like, I could have gave that a decent answer, but now I'm just going to smile."

Bob Chesney Senior is 76 and he's in the UCLA football building early in the morning and he's still in there at night.
He's in the staff meetings. He works with the DL. He's got no title, he's not on the payroll and nobody ever asked him to come.
The players call him Coach Senior. He got there this summer and has been there since.
His son is the head coach. UCLA are 5th in the country this week (first time they've been in the top 10 since October 2001) and they're 8 and 0.
Now back up 26 years.
Bob Chesney grew up in Kulpmont, PA (population at last census 2,758). It was a coal town, with a corner store and a bar on pretty much every block and a social life that went through the clubs, the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and the American Legion and the Polish and Irish clubs.
His dad coached at the Catholic high school. So did his uncle. So did his grandfather. Chesney was the ball boy before he was old enough to play.
His parents couldn't afford his schooling so he went back home in the summer and worked. Some summers that was doing the landscaping. Some summers it was at the mine.
'The toughest one was mining coal.'
"Back in Kulpmont that's what you did."
Years later as a young assistant at Johns Hopkins (making around $28k) he was sharing a 4 bedroom house with his future wife and two roommates and was tending bar at a club in Baltimore at night (four or five hundred a shift).
"Got me through those years."
He started out as a graduate assistant at a DIII school in 2000. Then Delaware Valley. Then King's College. Then Johns Hopkins. Then head coaching jobs at Salve Regina, Assumption, Holy Cross and James Madison.
8 conference titles. A career record of 132 and 52.
Martin Jarmond (the AD who hired him) put it in seven words.
"Everywhere he's been he's turned it around."
Be absolutely clear about what his father actually watched, as it wasn't anything quick and it was by no means glamorous. Bob Senior saw all 26 years of it from the very start and that's how he describes it.
He did it one rung at a time. He didn't skip a single one.
A 76 year old man who coached high school football in a coal town is now standing on a practice field in LA with no title and no pay at all, just watching his son coach the 5th best team in the country.
I do get choked up about it. I'm an emotional guy.
Somebody asked Chesney what the best bit about having his dad there was.
"Well that he is my dad."

First Philip Rivers and now Russell Wilson... Not a serious program or coach search.
Looking for the Coach Prime effect by selling tickets/make money all while getting national recognition.

Leaving explosive plays on the field... 📉❌
(1) Watch the spacing here. Talyn Taylor absolutely wins over the top on the USOM route and is tracking toward open grass. Instead of letting the concept develop, Gunner bails out early and dumps a the checkdown. If you pull the trigger on Taylor, it’s an explosive gain. Process over result. 👇
How much does pass protection change a quarterback's whole progression? ⏱️👀
(2) Gunner ends up forcing a high-risk 50/50 ball to the backside isolated receiver here. But rewind the tape—look at #74. A protection breakdown at center forces Gunner's clock to speed up. If 74 seals that block for just a half-second longer, Gunner has the clean platform to see a streaking Jaden Reddell flashing wide open on the scissors skinny post. Protection changes everything. 👇
You have to throw a dart with zero air to hit this rail route down the sideline... 🎯🧱
(3) Ethan Barbour executes this vertical rail route beautifully and has the leverage to beat his man. To hit this window, the quarterback needs a firm platform to drive the ball.
Instead, the front five allow a standard 4-man pressure to completely cave in the pocket interior. Gunner never gets to set his feet, and a potential chunk play gets wiped out by a line breakdown. 👇
Taking what's given vs. striking for the juggernaut.😤
It's 3rd and 1, the defense gives him a green light to run, so Gunner naturally pushes the ball with his legs to move the chains. Business decision made. But look at London Humphreys (#16) streaking by steps down the seam. Gunner moves the sticks, but a touchdown was sitting right there on the hash if he keeps his eyes downfield.
What's your thoughts on these plays? 👇 Honestly, I'm still fine with all of them because 3 of the 4 result in net positive gains besides for the incompletion but the fans want those explosives. Don't they?

Who would you elect for your sports leaders?

NBA - @HometeamBleak so he can end flopping and 7 steps before traveling calls.
NFL - @BFinn86 so he can beat back those who think one foot in is enough for a completion.
CFB - @JohnMichaelsU so he can solve the open transfer portal but he has to loose his “The U” allegiance.
