Data centres in Malaysia could emit nearly 44 million tonnes of greenhouse gases annually, about one-fifth of the country’s 2024 emissions, RimbaWatch said. The estimate was based on 51 facilities, but actual emissions could be higher as some figures excluded cooling and other energy use. 🧵1
The government is reviewing data centre development to ensure electricity and water consumption does not burden consumers. This comes amid concerns that some data centres request more electricity capacity than they actually use, potentially leading to excess capacity costs. 🧵1

The MMA has called on Putrajaya to clarify reports that Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad had proposed exempting liquid nicotine used in vape products from the Poisons List. The move was reportedly endorsed by the Poisons Board, CodeBlue reported. 🧵1 codeblue.galencentre.org/202…
The KL High Court has ruled that Putrajaya's decision to remove liquid nicotine used in vape and e-cigarettes from the poisons list was irrational and made without proper consultation with the Poisons Board. It found that former health minister Zaliha Mustafa’s exemption was mainly driven by plans to impose excise taxes on vape products announced in the 2023 federal budget. 🧵1

📍🟡 “People who share and believe in your vision, who are willing to spend their work portion of time with you, are the most crucial. I wouldn’t be where I am without many, many strong guys around me which I share the business with accordingly." Tony Lim Chin Hau, the founder of Boat Noodle and BananaBro, has passed away at the age of 47. His interest in cars initially led Lim to pursue an education and career as an automotive engineer. After facing rejections from Proton, he carved his own path by opening Speed D Garage in Sunway, with many car enthusiasts still remembering his engineering days to date. Honoring an agreement with his parents, he later sold the workshop to join his family’s trucking and logistics business, EH Utara Holdings, in 2005. As the chief executive director, he expanded the company to boast a regional presence with offices in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, and Laos, with a full range of shipping, delivery, and warehousing services. Towards the end of 2012, Lim assisted his sister in becoming the master franchiser of Chatime in Cambodia by setting up Brands Management Ltd which reignited his interest towards starting his own business. Following the birth of his twin daughters, Lim took the step to build a venture of his own. In 2014, he incorporated Ultra 5 Food and Beverages to launch and operate Boat Noodle, popularising halal Thai boat noodles across Malaysia. In 2018, he launched BananaBro with the goal of making banana leaf dining modern, accessible, and approachable for all Malaysians. Both businesses operate more than 40 branches around the country. Beyond his contributions to the food and beverage industry, Lim remained a passionate automotive enthusiast. He was deeply respected across local car culture, with notable automotive lifestyle platforms and event organisers like No Equal and Art of Speed paying tribute to his character, influence, and remarkable car collection. This clip is from Tony Lim's interview with BFM in 2024.
