Dear Gov. @jidesanwoolu and @AdetolaAbubakar, the situation at Ajelogo/Akanimodo Bridge, Owode-Onirin, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Lagos State demands your urgent attention. For over two years, the Ajelogo/Akanimodo Bridge has remained blocked, leaving residents, particularly those around Bola Kazeem Street, to battle recurring flooding that threatens their homes, businesses, and livelihoods. Despite several self-help efforts by community members, the blockage remains unresolved, and the people continue to bear the consequences of the government's inaction. We call on @followlasg and Agboyi Ketu LCDA to clear the blocked bridge, restore proper drainage and water flow, and implement a lasting solution to the flooding. Residents should not have to risk their homes, businesses, and safety because of a problem that requires government intervention. #Getinvolved #publicfundsmustworkforthegoodofthepeople

Routine vaccination protects children against preventable diseases and is essential to keeping them healthy. For every child to receive these vaccines when due, local health centres must have the facilities to store and keep them safe. As we continue to celebrate #BudgITAt15, we will keep spotlighting stories of people and communities whose experiences show the impact of better public services. This story follows Mariam, a mother and resident of Kaya, Giwa LGA, Kaduna State. At her local Primary Healthcare Centre, unreliable electricity made it difficult to keep vaccines properly stored and available for children. Through BudgIT’s work with the Kaya community under the SCAPP project, community advocacy and engagement with health authorities helped secure a solar-powered TCW 40 medical freezer for the facility. The freezer can keep vaccines safely stored for more than 80 hours without sunlight. This means health workers can maintain the required storage conditions for vaccines and conduct immunisation sessions more reliably, while mothers like Mariam can have greater confidence in the care their children receive at their local health centre. Akwa Ibom had quite a year in the 2025 overall fiscal performance ranking. The state went from 27th place in 2024 to 10th place in 2025, climbing 17 places. It also ranked first in debt sustainability, a separate measure in the assessment. That’s quite a difference in one year! Will Akwa Ibom climb even higher when the new rankings are released, or will another state take its place? The State of States Report 2026 launches November 3. 🕘 9:00 AM Can’t make it to the launch? @Anambrastate_ng claimed the top spot in the 2025 State of States overall fiscal performance ranking, moving up from second place in 2024. That puts the state ahead of others in an assessment that examines how well states manage their finances across key fiscal indicators. Can Anambra hold on to the number one position when the 2026 rankings are released? Or will another state take the lead this year? The countdown to the new rankings is on! The State of States Report 2026 launches on November 3. 🗓️ Tuesday, November 3, 2026 🕘 9:00 AM Watching from elsewhere? Abia’s revenue figures had an interesting story to tell in the 2025 State of States report. The biggest increase came from revenue generated outside taxes! Non-tax revenue increased by 260.98%, rising from N6.39bn in 2023 to N23.07bn in 2024. Tax revenue also grew by 56.84%, helping push the state’s total revenue up by 126.19%. A state’s ability to generate revenue internally plays an important role in financing its priorities. It will be interesting to see how Abia’s revenue performance compares in the 2026 assessment. 🗓️ Tuesday, November 3, 2026 🕘 9:00 AM Following the launch online? UPDATE🚨 Following our report on the deplorable learning conditions at Kigbe LEA Primary School in Yebu Ward, Kwali Area Council, FCT, where 248 pupils have been sitting on the floor to learn for over 8years, there has been an encouraging development. The Kwali Area Council Government has provided 20 wooden chairs for the pupils, while a concerned individual @V2SMART has facilitated the supply of 30 plastic chairs to the school. Thanks to @G_RationFlights for that. The same donor has also committed to providing additional chairs, with painting and minor renovation works scheduled to commence tomorrow. These interventions are welcomed and we appreciate the efforts of everyone responding to the needs of these pupils and taking action to restore some comfort and dignity to their learning experience. However, there is still much work to be done. Beyond seating, the school urgently requires proper overhaul. Flooring, walls, windows, roofs and doors repair, and a safer, more conducive classroom environment needs to be prioritized now. We urge the office of @GovWike and Hon. Nuhu Daniel Kwali to ensure the reconstruction of this school. We will continue to follow this development and advocate for the lasting improvements these children deserve.
Dear @GovWike, @IretiKingibe, and Hon. Nuhu Daniel Kwali, we call on you to urgently intervene at Kigbe LEA Primary School, Yebu Ward, Kwali Area Council, FCT, where 248 pupils have endured deplorable learning conditions for over eight years. The attached video and images paint a distressing picture of the reality these children face daily. Instead of learning in a safe, decent, and conducive classroom, pupils are forced to sit on bare floors and makeshift wooden planks, using whatever limited space and materials are available to continue their education. The classroom floor is visibly deteriorated, with large patches of exposed earth, while the walls and general condition of the learning environment raise serious concerns about the safety, dignity, and well-being of the pupils. For more than eight years, these children have continued to pursue their education under conditions that no child should have to endure. They deserve proper desks and chairs, a clean and secure classroom, adequate ventilation, and an environment that supports effective teaching and learning. Their circumstances raise important questions about the state of basic education infrastructure, the availability of essential learning facilities, and the attention being given to underserved communities. The situation is particularly concerning amid rising temperatures and the increasing risks associated with extreme heat. In poorly maintained classrooms with unsuitable seating arrangements, children may face additional discomfort, fatigue, dehydration, and difficulty concentrating. How can we expect these pupils to learn effectively, remain comfortable, and reach their full potential when their basic learning needs have gone unmet for so long? Education is a fundamental right, not a privilege that should depend on a child's location or circumstances. Every child deserves an opportunity to learn in an environment that protects their health, preserves their dignity, and gives them a fair chance to succeed. The children of Kigbe should not have to choose between enduring hardship and accessing an education. Eight years is far too long for 248 children to learn without basic classroom furniture and a decent learning environment. Education must not mean enduring indignity. #GetInvolved

With COP31 approaching and Nigeria’s budget and energy transition planning processes under way, the conversation around climate finance needs to go beyond commitments. Young Nigerians need to know where the money is going, how it is being spent and whether it is delivering results for communities. Tracking climate finance can be difficult. Funds flow through different institutions and funding channels, while gaps in project-level data and inconsistent reporting make it harder to trace allocations, track spending and assess the impact of climate investments. Young people have a stake in these decisions and the future they will inherit. At Green Accountability for Young Voices, we will explore how young Nigerians can use public data to track climate finance, scrutinise green budget allocations and hold decision-makers accountable for how these funds are used. 🎙️Speakers: 📌 Theresa Tolulope Gbenro, Youth Advisor, AU-EU Youth Action Lab 📌 Chima Ernest Okoli, Climate Innovator and Youth Development Professional 📌 Inyene-Christ David, Climate Justice Advocate and Legal Practitioner 🗓️ Thursday, 29 October 2026 🕚 11:00 AM (WAT) 💻 BudgIT’s Zoom If you are a young Nigerian, this conversation concerns you and your future. In March 2026, the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) reported that Nigeria generates over 32 million tonnes of solid waste annually. How we manage this waste affects our communities, our surroundings and the natural resources we depend on. This makes responsible waste management an important part of protecting our environment. World Sustainability Day reminds us that the choices we make today shape the world we leave for future generations. This World Sustainability Day, we’re calling on everyone to be more conscious of how their actions affect the environment and to play their part in protecting it. What have you done today to care for our environment? #WorldSustainabilityDay #GetInvolved #AskQuestions

As preparations for the 2027 general elections continue, access to reliable election data will be important for monitoring the process, verifying results and strengthening public trust. Yesterday in Abuja, we joined our consortium partners, @Dataphytefdn, @YIAGA, the @CJIDAfrica, and @DEANinitiative, to launch the Nigeria Election Data Observatory (NEDO) and its civic technology app. The consortium plans to deploy over 4,000 election observers for the 2027 general elections to document the electoral process and gather data for independent monitoring. We presented Civic Hive’s liveresults.civichive.org, which uses interactive maps to help citizens access election results and examine them across states. We are excited to work with our partners through NEDO as we continue to support access to election information and strengthen transparency and accountability ahead of the 2027 elections. #NEDO #GetInvolved #AskQuestions

N195m on presidential trips... N225m for presidential emergency related expenses and N22m paid to personal accounts. Dear Nigerians, On today's #DiscoveriesFromGovspend, We discovered that the Presidency spent approximately ₦504 million in public funds between March and June 2026. Here is what the records show: ₦195m on presidential trips: In April 2026, three payments of ₦79m, ₦15m, and ₦100m were recorded for presidential trips and related expenses. ₦225m was spent on emergency-related expenses in June 2026. In April 2026, ₦61.8 million was spent on ceremonial helmets and 33 ceremonial aiguillettes, ranks, and files for the mounted troop. ₦7.13m for a presidential transition event in Egypt in April 2026 and ₦10m for a UK trade meeting in March 2026 These entries total approximately ₦504.02 million across the eight transactions shown. The expenditure descriptions raise important questions about spending priorities, value for money, and the public benefits delivered. The final three transactions, amounting to approximately ₦22 million, are also concerning because the records identify payments to personal accounts. Meanwhile, the Financial Regulations 2009, Chapter 7, Section 713, prohibit paying public funds into private accounts. At a time when citizens are facing rising living costs and public services remain under delivered, transparency is not optional. What were these payments intended to achieve? What value did Nigerians receive? And how were these expenditures justified? Visit govspend.ng to examine government transactions, follow the money, and demand accountability. #Publicmoneymustdeliverpublicvalue
