It was great to see support in the Budget for bringing international rail to Stratford International Station at last. If we are serious about meeting our climate commitments, we need to make it easy to choose #TrainNotPlane.

This week we held an event in Parliament, where we were honoured to be joined by MPs, Department for Transport officials, and key figures from the transport industry and fellow NGOs.

The event was a chance to highlight the importance of transport. As Our Chair, Shamit Gaiger OBE, said: "We now see transport at the heart of every debate. It is... fundamental for our society, for our economy, and for the complex challenges that we are facing."

We were delighted to be hosted by @OllyGloverLD, and joined by speakers Alex Mayer MP and Vernon Everitt CBE. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to @TrueformGroup for supporting the event.

Great that today’s #Budget included a step towards bringing international rail services to Stratford. With less than half the Channel Tunnel’s passenger capacity now being used, there is huge potential to make international rail travel available to more people. #TrainNotPlane

How accessible are the bus stops where you live? Our latest report highlights problems like: • Not enough space to manoeuvre a wheelchair • No dropped kerb • No seating • No timetables - or timetables that are too small or high up for people to read. #BetterBusStops

We welcome the Government’s commitment to giving local leaders greater powers and funding flexibility, alongside support to build local expertise and capacity. Done well, devolution can drive better transport, stronger local economies and greater opportunity across the country.

We're calling on the Chancellor @JohnHealey_MP to prioritise public transport ahead of roads and airports in Wednesday's #Budget2026. We also want to see a fairer tax regime for more carbon-intensive transport modes to help raise much-needed additional revenue. Find out more👇

Trains, buses and trams connect us to work, college, days out... and each other. They mean less traffic on our roads, less air pollution and a more stable climate. The Government should use next week's Budget to support and improve public transport.

We talked to @thetimes about Delay Repay. It can be complicated to claim when your train is delayed, so it's good that the process is being simplified. But most importantly, we want to see fewer trains being delayed in the first place. ow.ly/FWI95100rf5

Our own Silviya Barrett writes in this week's 'Passenger Transport' about the need to make journeys safer for women and girls. If transport feels unsafe, then it has failed at the first hurdle.

Quoted📰 We are supporting SELRAP's campaign to reopen the Skipton-Colne railway line, which was closed in 1970. 12 miles that would make a transformative difference. Let's reopen this and more disused rail lines. thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/n…

We've been in the media this wk talking about anti-social behaviour. Noisy phone use, vaping & littering are not just irritating: they can be a real deterrent to people using public transport. So, the new powers are welcome, but must be properly enforced. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm89…

It was great to be invited onto @BBCRadio4's 'In Touch' programme last night to talk about our report on accessible bus stops. Only 15% of people with visual impairments find it easy to use bus stops - change is needed. #BetterBusStops Listen here: bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m00333…

A group's calling on the chancellor to use the budget as an opportunity to reform aviation tax. @CBTransport say they want to see airlines contribute to the cost of tackling climate change. They're also suggesting a frequent flyer levy and a higher rate of Passenger Duty for private jets. Airlines UK says it would risk putting flying out of reach for ordinary UK families.
