An in-depth look at the state of global trade is underway at the DMCC Future of Trade 2026 launch in London – from the impact of AI on business competitiveness, to navigating the disruption of tariffs, and the rise of South-South trade and new economic growth corridors. Our expert panel, moderated by Asia House’s Michael Lawrence, brought together leading voices from business, finance, technology and policy to explore the findings of Future of Trade 2026 and debate the forces redefining international commerce. Thank you to Dr. Helen Belopolsky, Global Head of Geopolitical Research, Deutsche Bank; Madelaine Tuininga, Minister Counsellor and Head of Economic and Trade Affairs, Delegation of the European Union to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland; Mallika Ishwaran, Chief Economist, @shell; and @NinaSkero, Chief Executive, @Cebr_uk.

Growing numbers of graduates will see their monthly pay deducted due to Labour’s decision to freeze the repayment threshold for Plan 2 loans for three years – instead of increasing it with inflation. More than a fifth of Plan 2 borrowers who are currently under the repayment threshold will have to start making repayments during the freeze, according to analysis by @Cebr_uk

#Rwanda Projected to Be Among the Strongest Risers in GDP by 2040 | 🇷🇼 World #GDP, in nominal terms, is estimated to amount to $117 trillion for 2025 as a whole and will almost double to $227 trillion by 2040. Long-range projections indicate that #China is now expected to overtake the #US as the world’s largest economy by 2045, earlier than envisaged last year, driven primarily by downgrades to the US’ long-term outlook, rather than a material structural improvement in China’s own performance. Among the strongest risers, Rwanda stands out as the fastest climber, rising by 19 places to rank 124th in 2040. Its sustained ascent reflects a long-running strategy centred on institutional reform, macroeconomic stability and deliberate moves up the value chain, particularly in services, ICT, tourism and logistics. Continued investment in human capital and regional integration within the East African Community underpin Rwanda’s strong medium-term growth outlook. #Recap2025 #YearinReview @RwandaGov @RDBrwanda @PaulKagame @Cebr_uk
