"'Starting with here, the city, we’ve endorsed Karen Bass,' the employee said, pointing at the incumbent mayor’s name on the ballot. 'For the city attorney, we’ve endorsed Marissa Roy.'
The employee also recommended Xavier Becerra for governor and Rob Bonta for attorney general, noting that Bonta, in particular, has been "very supportive.'"

Highly concerning and potentially illegal behavior from the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA).
A taxpayer-funded 501(c)3 organization—which is prohibited from electioneering under federal law—hosted an official L.A. County voting station, with multiple Smartmatic voting tablets and a ballot drop box.
At the voting station, one of the nonprofit’s employees took @CityJournal reporters into an adjoining room, went through our ballot line-by-line, and relayed endorsements for various races.

If New York City continues along the path being laid by @NYCMayor, it could become the next Paris, Craig R. Roach and John Garnett write. But it’s not too late to change course. city-journal.org/article/par…
Despite last night's blue wave, California voters appear poised to reject Proposition 40, a ballot initiative that would have imposed the nation’s first-ever statewide wealth tax.
The billionaire tax is on its way to defeat—but California will still pay the price.
@Shawn_Regan's latest: city-journal.org/article/cal…
California voters elected Democrat Xavier Becerra as governor, but appear poised to reject the billionaire wealth tax.
North Carolina voters sent Roy Cooper to the Senate by nearly 20 points, but approved voter ID, a limit on property-tax increases, and a cut to the top income-tax rate on the same ballot.
Then the five Sanders-backed Senate candidates underperformed.
Last night, voters punished Republicans. That doesn’t mean they endorsed the far Left.

Socialism was on the ballot yesterday. For a look at where these policies will lead us, look no further than Paris.
Massive budget outlays, economic regulations, and central planning will tamp down long-term economic growth, drain the city’s coffers, and work to the detriment of the very people these programs were supposed to help.

In a recent address, a former CIA agent indicated that she would use the power of the Congress to investigate White House officials, hoping that the threat of prosecutions would send a “deterrence message” to any college graduates considering a career in the Trump administration.
Vox Media podcast host Kara Swisher suggested that Elon Musk was destined for prison. Jonathan Last of the Bulwark made the same point in more vulgar language: “We start with the U.S. Congress, and it ends at the f****** Hague for Elon Musk.”
We need to take these threats seriously, @christopherrufo writes:
Democrats will likely win the midterms tonight.
They've telegraphed a not-so-subtle message: reprisals are coming.
@christopherrufo warns that after the midterms, the Left will seek revenge. city-journal.org/article/mid…
Prescription drug prices fell 4.5 percent—the largest year-over-year decline since 1963. The Trump administration’s policies are helping to bring them down, Joel Zinberg writes. city-journal.org/article/pre…

NEW: A far-left Brazilian movement is teaching young Americans how to organize a revolution using militant methods—many of which may qualify as civil terrorism.
The Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra, or MST, hosted delegations of some of America’s most influential activists in hopes of giving them an inside look at the methods that have helped make MST Latin America’s largest progressive mass movement.
Those methods include invasions and mass destruction of private farmland, illegal occupations of government buildings, and violent clashes with political opponents. The American participants hope to adapt these methods for use in the United States.

NEW: The Mellon Foundation is quietly bankrolling a political alliance to protect DEI efforts and fight conservative higher education reforms.
@JohnDSailer obtained thousands of documents, including emails, project proposals, lecture slides, and meeting recordings showing how, behind the scenes, the Mellon Foundation is organizing and spending big to defend its vision for higher education.
As the records suggest, Mellon has geared up for a political fight. city-journal.org/article/mel…

NEW UNDERCOVER INVESTIGATION: I spent several months investigating a nationwide network of advocacy organizations and medical providers helping families continue medically transitioning their children in defiance of state laws.
My investigation centers on Campaign for Southern Equality (CSE), an LGBT advocacy nonprofit that connects families with cooperating medical providers across the country. CSE has distributed over $1 million in travel grants to more than 1,200 families, plus another $1 million to partner organizations, including funding for medical appointments.
With CSE's knowledge, providers in its referral network told me the ways that they circumvent state restrictions on gender-transition treatments for minors.
Some discussed using alternative diagnosis codes, such as “endocrine disorder,” to facilitate prescriptions or insurance coverage. Others described mailing medications directly to families' homes or sending prescriptions to pharmacies in states where these interventions are banned.
Providers also discussed conducting virtual appointments with patients in those states. Others required patients to cross state lines for telehealth but did not appear to have a reliable method for verifying their physical location.
My primary undercover scenario involved an 11-year-old girl in Tennessee who had only recently begun identifying as nonbinary, with no long history of gender-related distress. The providers I shared this scenario with seemed eager to treat her. Many indicated that puberty blockers could be prescribed after an initial evaluation lasting just one to several hours.
My investigation uncovered practices that may violate state and federal laws and pose medical risks to children living hundreds or thousands of miles from their treating physicians.

🚨BREAKING: An undercover City Journal investigation found a nationwide network that exists to help families medically transition their children in defiance of the law.
Advocacy organizations are partnering with medical providers who discussed using diagnoses other than gender dysphoria to make it easier for families to obtain prescriptions or insurance coverage; sending prescriptions to pharmacies in states with bans or mailing medications directly to patients’ homes; and using telehealth to circumvent state laws.
