Happy Diwali! ✨ Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most important celebrations in Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, and some Buddhist traditions. Diwali symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. The five-day festival spans from November 6th to November 11th.

A heartfelt thank you to BCANDS (Indigenous Disability Canada / British Columbia Aboriginal Network on Disability Society) for creating and championing Indigenous Disability Awareness Month. We’re excited to share a review of Verbal Me, a simple tap-to-talk app designed to make communication easier and more accessible. Sometimes, a small tap can make a big difference in giving someone a voice. Check out the latest video from DDA's Assistive Technology department and see what Verbal Me has to offer! #AAC #aacdevice #taptotalk

Halloween magic was in full swing at our Riverside Child Development Centre on Friday! πŸŽƒπŸ‘» The centre was transformed into a parade of imagination, with princesses, dragons, dinosaurs, and even Optimus Prime making a special appearance! From fairy-tale adventures to prehistoric surprises, our little ghouls and superheroes brought plenty of Halloween spirit, smiles, and excitement to the day. Worms 'n dirt made a fun - but slightly gross if only in the name - snack! One thing's for sure - these kiddos are ready for the big night! Happy Halloween! 🧑

DO NOT...let the dancing fool you. DO NOT...let the laughter mislead you. DO NOT...let the delicious pizza convince you that it was enjoyed. πŸ• This was nothing short of a scarefest! Full of demons, ghouls, and a fisherman's catch of living human calamari hybrids! πŸ¦‘πŸ˜³ Thrills, chills, and enough Halloween spirit to raise the dead. From creepy costumes to monstrous moves on the dance floor, our DDA crew proved that a little fright and a lot of fun make for one unforgettable Halloween celebration. Until next year... sleep tight! πŸ‘»πŸŽƒ

Celebrating even more people! πŸŽ‚ Last week, we recognized DDA members of staff who have been with the organization for over 20 years - and there are many. This week, we celebrate those who have been supporting our mission for 5 or 10 years. To everyone celebrating a work anniversary this year: thank you for the time, care, and commitment you’ve given to DDA. Your contributions matter, your dedication is appreciated, and the difference you make reaches far beyond the workplace. 🫢 #workanniversary #commitment #careersthatcount

DDA is a great association to work for! On October 7 and 8, DDA participated in UBC Career Days, UBC's annual career fair. The two-day event brought together more than 75 employers from a wide range of industries, providing an excellent opportunity to connect with students and alumni, share information about DDA's services and employment opportunities, and build relationships with future job seekers and professionals. Interested in employment with DDA? Follow the link to our careers page! buff.ly/VxLw0ME

What makes an association like DDA work and grow? Is it the buildings 🏒 ? Is it the fundingπŸ’°? Is it policy and procedure πŸ“‘ ? Not really. It’s the people. The kind of people who dedicate their working lives to supporting society's most vulnerable populations. Compassion. Empathy. Kindness. Understanding. ❀️ Every person celebrated in this video has been with DDA for at least 20 years. That says something about working at DDA, but it says a lot more about the people who make it go. Congratulations on 20+ years of working at DDA! We see you. #WorkAnniversaryCelebration #dedication #CommitmentToExcellence #WorkEthicWins

Doing their civic duty! βœ… The folks from our East 45th and Worthington homes in Vancouver exercised their right to vote and made their voices heard! Change happened in almost every municipality, and we're proud that people with developmental disabilities had their say. Next up - provincial politics (October 24th)! #vote #YourVoteMatters #bcpoli
