SOLUTION 💡: J8o is basically a PURE CHECK on the turn. 1️⃣ The 9 is not a great barrel card for us. It connects with a decent part of SB’s flop calling range, so we don’t generate enough extra fold equity. 2️⃣ We have plenty of useful equity. With a flush draw + gutshot, we can improve on many rivers and realize that equity for free. 3️⃣ We don’t want to get check-raised off a strong draw. Checking keeps the pot under control and guarantees we see the river.
😰Most players misplay this turn — would you? 💥 👉20BB effective limped pot: SB completes, we raise BB with J♣8♠, SB calls. We cbet small on the flop, SB calls. Turn 9♦, SB checks again. ⁉️What’s the best play on the turn?

SOLUTION 💡: JTs is a PURE 40% BET on the turn. 1️⃣ We improved from a bluff to a real value hand. HJ can still continue with worse pairs, straight draws and hands containing a club. 2️⃣ We want to charge all that equity. Checking gives too many hands a free river. 3️⃣ 40% is the sweet spot. A big bet would push out too many worse hands and isolate us more against flushes and stronger made hands. The medium size keeps HJ’s weaker range in.
We finally hit top pair on the turn… and somehow the decision gets HARDER 💥😱 👉40BB effective SRP: HJ opens, we call CO with J♥T♥. Flop: 7♦5♣4♣. HJ checks, we stab, HJ calls. Turn: J♣. HJ checks again. ⁉️What’s the best play?

SOLUTION 💡: We should go for the 3rd street of value with our T-high flush. 1️⃣ Ranges are extremely wide HU. BB reaches the river with plenty of weaker flushes: 9♠x, 8♠x, 6♠x, 5♠x, etc. 2️⃣ Our small flop + turn sizings keep BB’s range very wide. We haven’t filtered villain down to only strong hands, so there are still enough worse hands that can pay us. 3️⃣ 75% extracts value without over-polarizing. We want a meaningful bet from weaker flushes, while a jam would start isolating us more against stronger flushes and boats.
T-high flush: do we really go for THREE streets of value? 💥 👉20BB effective HU SRP: We c-bet small on A♠7♠2♠ with T♠T♥ and bet small again on the 9♠ turn. BB calls both streets and checks the 2♣ river. ⁉️Do we go for a 3rd street of value?

SOLUTION 💡: QJ is a PURE BET on the turn. 1️⃣ The A is a great card for our range. We have plenty of strong Ax, while SB arrives with lots of Kx, 9x and pocket pairs that now face pressure. 2️⃣ QJ has almost no showdown value, but good equity. Our gutshot gives us clean outs when called, making it a natural semi-bluff. 3️⃣ We can fold out better hands and keep the pressure on. 9x, pocket pairs and some weaker Kx are put in difficult spots, while the bet also sets up strong river barrels.
The DREAM card hits the turn — but should we really keep betting? 💥 👉30BB effective SRP: We open LJ with Q♥J♠, SB calls. We cbet big on K♦9♦3♣, SB calls. Turn A♣, SB checks again. ⁉️What’s the best turn strategy?

SOLUTION 💡: 88 is a mix overall but our exact combo is a PURE JAM. Folding is never an option. 1️⃣ We’re simply too strong to fold. An overpair + backdoors has plenty of equity against SB’s big cbet range. 2️⃣ Jamming protects our hand. There are tons of overcards and draws that can realize equity if we only call. 3️⃣ The exact suits matter. Different 88 combos have slightly different blocker effects, which is why the hand class mixes between call and jam — while our combo prefers the jam.
🤯Overpair in a 3-bet pot — would you really FOLD this at 30bb? 💥 👉30bb effective 3BP: We open HJ with 8♠8♦, SB 3-bets, we call. Flop: 7♦ 6♦ 6♣. SB fires a BIG 49% c-bet. ⁉️What’s the best play?

SOLUTION 💡: QJs strongly is a BIG cbet here. 1️⃣ The big size creates real fold equity. Better hands like AQ/AJ and low pocket pairs can continue comfortably vs 20%, but face a much tougher decision vs 50%. 2️⃣ Our 3-bet range is stronger on this board. We hold more overpairs and strong Tx, which allows us to apply pressure with a bigger sizing across a large part of our range. 3️⃣ The bigger flop bet sets up a turn jam on good cards. When we pick up additional equity or hit favorable turns, the pot is already built to apply maximum pressure.
😱Most players pick a cbet size here without thinking twice. Big mistake? 💥 👉60BB effective 3BP: LJ opens, we 3-bet CO with Q♠J♠, LJ calls. Flop: T♠ 7♦ 4♣. LJ checks to us. ⁉️What’s the best play?

SOLUTION 💡: Our A8 combo should CHECK back here. 1️⃣ This board connects very well with SB’s range. SB has plenty of Kx, Qx, Tx, Jx and two-pair/straight combos, so we can’t apply pressure as freely as on many other flops. 2️⃣ We realize equity very well by checking. With Ace-high + a gutshot to the nuts, there are plenty of good turns for us. 3️⃣ We don’t want to get check-raised off our equity. Betting creates an awkward spot with a hand that has good future potential but isn’t strong enough to comfortably face aggression.
Looks like a dream flop for the preflop raiser… or is it? ⚡ 👉30BB effective SRP: We open BTN with A♥8♠, SB calls. Flop: K♥ Q♦ T♥. SB checks to us. ⁉️What’s the best play on the flop?
