I’m curious how the narratives surrounding gun rights in this country would shift if CEOs were murdered as often as schoolchildren.

Get ‘em!
This is one of the most disturbing, uninformed, and un-American statements I've ever seen a Superintendent make. I sincerely hope state colleagues can talk him out of the the educational and civic desert in which he's walking. The harm that would come from such policies would be almost unrecoverable, and it's all so unnecessary for the people of Oklahoma. We should expect much more from those leading public schooling. And yeah, I know, I'm living in Virginia, and we have our own challenges, but hoo-wee, this statement from Walters is supremely unaware and hurtful to many.

Explicit grammar instruction has no evidence of positive impact on writing skills.
The last year we had our kids in public school we were told at back to school night that grammar was no longer a serious part of the curriculum. The veteran teacher then told my wife and I privately that she was going to teach it anyway regardless of the consequences. She was hopeful that the county Board of Education had only temporarily gone insane. I commend all the public school teachers out there who are holding onto common sense despite the pressure to chase the latest fad.

I was eating three bags of wokeness every day. Glad I’m now on the right path. 👍
Cut out the wokeness, Cheetos and SSRIs from your diet.

I don’t understand schools that arbitrarily try to set rules to take the joy out of graduation. They earned an incredible achievement. Let them celebrate!! Make it make sense!

It’s like these people have never heard of Maslow. Before any learning occurs, there has to be some aspects of basic physiological needs met. The “just teach” crowd is so ignorant of how the job is actually done.

No kid should be able to find their bad moments on the internet. No parent should see or hear their kid’s bad moments on the internet.

Good Heavens, the internet can be cold. But, glad we're reckoning with our assumptions.

Does discipline = suspension only?
Admin: *refuse to discipline kids* Also, admin: “Our suspension rates are the best they’ve ever been!”

Anybody got any cool/special ideas for high school graduation? Beginning the planning process and not sure where to go.

A hiring freeze in April 😂 😂 😂 you’re saving taxpayer money temporarily until you have to hire lower quality candidates because the good ones will leave to places giving them offers.
Saving taxpayers $1.3 million.

But hey, when you’re purposely trying to sabotage public schools, I guess you’ll get the metrics you’re striving for.

The school shooter that struck in my hometown/former school literally told police after he was subdued that he wanted to “go down in a hail of gunfire.”
And…? Schools need to cease being “soft” targets. Hire armed police officers, SRO’s (school resource officers). Cowards who shoot up schools and kids aren’t looking for a fight— they seek easy targets.

We have to stop pretending that these demented people are these rational actors that do the calculus of avoiding the greatest threat. They aren’t, and they don’t. They go in planning to die.

Anxiously awaiting all conservatives who constantly coped with "shooters are mentally ill individuals whose political ideologies don't matter" to suddenly attribute 100% of this shooting to the shooter's ideology.

How dare they encourage students to ask questions!
A visit inside my son’s NYC public school for the first time such the pandemic.
