The UAE dirham’s new symbol is now part of Unicode. Its next step is everyday use across invoices, checkout pages and banking apps.
As TransFi CEO Raj Kamal told Khaleej Times, familiarity grows when people see a currency symbol in routine payments. Cross-border settlement will still use AED, while wider adoption can make the dirham easier to recognise across digital services.

Picture a business collecting euros from a customer and paying a recipient in Thailand.
