My heart breaks for the family of 15 year old Javits Frimpong, who died from gun violence Thursday. Another innocent life taken senselessly and another family devastated by the tragedy of gun violence. Enough is enough, and families deserve solutions.

Today we honor the life of the late Dolores Huerta. She was a legendary labor leader and activist, the founder of the United Farm Workers, and a powerful icon for generations of American women.
Her fight for worker dignity, fair wages, safe working conditions, and gender equality shaped the labor movement for generations to come, and California will always be grateful.
Rest in peace, Dolores.

Dolores Huerta was a trailblazing civil rights leader who fought for the dignity of farm workers and migrant laborers. Organizing walkouts, boycotts, and nonviolent protests, she transformed the U.S. labor movement and improved countless lives.
We must honor her legacy, continue her work, and remember what she told us: Sí se puede. May she rest in eternal peace.

I’m heartbroken. For decades, Dolores Huerta fought to make the world a better place for workers, women, and immigrants.
At 95 years old, Dolores would get on a red-eye flight on a moment’s notice to make it for a protest at the Capitol, or a meeting with brave Texas workers. She was inspiring us until the very end.
Que en paz descanse, Dolores.

Saddened to hear the news about Dolores Huerta. There are no words to fully capture Dolores’ life and legacy. She was an incredible leader, a fighter for our Latino community and workers everywhere, and an icon whose courage inspired so many to follow in her footsteps. She certainly inspired me and took time out of her busy schedule to help me.
I am grateful to have known her, and I will miss her dearly.
To her family, my deepest condolences go out to you today. I’ll be keeping you and everyone who knew and loved Dolores in my prayers.
Que descanse en paz, Dolores.

Reports of increased ICE activity near Ontario schools are causing fear in our communities. Families are notifying the school district that they plan to pull their children out of class for the rest of the year because they are afraid.
No parent should have to worry about their child’s safety when sending them to school. Every child deserves an education, and no family should have to choose between their child’s future and their family’s safety.
ICE’s actions are creating fear that is keeping children out of the classroom. That is not public safety. Parents should not have to choose between protecting their families and making sure their children get an education. Our children deserve better, and I will keep demanding accountability for the harm these enforcement tactics are causing in our communities.

The new Vanity Fair story on Jared Kushner is extraordinary.
According to Matthew Cole's upcoming book, foreign intelligence officials watched Kushner access a Dubai bank account holding hundreds of millions of dollars tied to Gulf governments while he served as Trump’s senior advisor. Money from that account went to a warlord, a mercenary and a former hit man.
We don't yet know what's true here. If foreign governments were quietly funding a senior official, Congress and the public need to know. If the allegations are false, a transparent investigation should clear the air.
The founders worried about this very thing and wrote the Emoluments Clause because they feared foreign powers would try to buy influence.
Congress must investigate fully and hold anyone who broke the law accountable.
Our foreign policy must never be for sale.

This is voter intimidation.
Under the Trump Administration, people are afraid to go to work, send their children to school, travel—and now, exercise their most fundamental democratic right: voting.
Make no mistake: this was never about election security or targeting the “worst of the worst.” It has always been about fear and control.
No one should be afraid to cast a ballot.
Armed and in uniform, agents from the Department of Homeland Security have been knocking on doors to ask residents about their immigration status whether they're registered to vote. cbsn.ws/4yzObDZ

No American should have a federal agent knock on their door demanding they prove their citizenship ahead of the election. Under Trump, agents did just that.
Our democracy requires free and fair elections. Not voter intimidation. This is despicable.
