BREAKING: We found a super easy way to increase retention on your Youtube videos.
Watch the video below to find out how!
Big creators have editors, strategists, and analysts telling them what to fix. Everyone else is on their own. HookLab exists to close that gap so any creator can get real feedback on their video before it goes live.🧪
Optimize your hooks so people aren’t immediately swiping past your video.
If you are still having trouble, or want a whole video analysis, try HookLab for free🧪

hook → stakes → rehook → payoff → cta
most creators nail the hook and forget the rehook. thats where your retention drops off a cliff
Here is how to get retention graphs with less dips! 🧪
1️⃣ Drop the creator bias. You love every second because you made it. Your viewers don't. Cut what only matters to you.
2️⃣ Land your hook fast. Shorts get about 1 second. Long form gets the first minute. Lose them there and nothing else matters.
3️⃣ Put value in every section. If a part doesn't teach, entertain, or build toward something, it's a drop-off waiting to happen.
4️⃣ Deliver the payoff. Your hook made a promise, so keep it. Viewers can tell when you're stalling.
5️⃣ Make your CTA earn its spot. Ask after you've given them a reason to care, not before.
Still seeing big drops?
Upload your video to HookLab and see exactly where viewers leave and why.

Lots of gaming creators go live, THEN try and take their footage and manipulate it into a YouTube video.
This can work for some people (mostly only the super sweats who are iiTzTimmy level gaming gods)
However, you will yield better results having a video idea or challenge BEFORE you hit the “live” button, then use that stream time getting the footage that is necessary to make the video a 1 of 10.
You go from “I guess I can make something of this footage 🤷♂️” to “I have everything I need to make the video I envisioned”
CTA’s are just as important as hooks 🧪
If you are still struggling with finding how to optimize CTA’s for channel growth, then Hooklab can help.

If you label yourself a “Content Creator” you are now in the business of selling attention.
The longer someone watches your video, the harder the video gets pushed to new viewers, the more money your business makes.
Attention grows your business, and HookLab knows how to keep people watching.

If you could know one thing about your video before you hit publish, what would it be and why?

Most creators spend all their energy on the first three seconds and almost none on the last ten. That's a mistake, because the end of your video is where the call to action lives.
A lot of creators skip it for one of two reasons. Either they've never really heard of a CTA, or they think asking viewers to follow or comment is lame and makes them look desperate. Both are costing them growth.
What is a call to action?
It's the moment you tell the viewer what to do next. Follow for part 2. Comment your answer. Check the link in bio. Watch the full video on the channel. It sounds basic, but it's the step that turns a passive view into something that actually grows your account.
Why does it matter so much?
A viewer who enjoyed your video doesn't automatically follow, comment, or click. Most people need to be asked. Without a clear CTA, the video ends, the viewer moves on, and all the attention you worked to earn goes nowhere. Comments, follows, and replays are also signals the platforms pay attention to, so a good CTA helps the video itself, not just your follower count.
If you think CTAs are cringe, you're probably picturing the bad ones. "Smash that like button" read off a script in a flat voice is lame. A CTA that feels like part of the video isn't. Asking viewers to drop their pick in the comments, teasing what happens in part 2, or pointing them to the full breakdown on your channel all feel natural because they give the viewer a reason to act.
The catch is that a CTA can hurt you too. Put it too early and it feels pushy. Put it after most viewers have already left and nobody hears it. Make it vague and nobody acts on it.
Why HookLab analyzes it
We built HookLab to catch problems before you post, and a weak or missing CTA is one of the easiest to fix and one of the most commonly overlooked. So alongside your hook and retention, HookLab looks at whether your video has a clear call to action, whether it lands while viewers are still watching, and whether it actually fits the content.
Your hook earns the viewer's attention, and your CTA is what turns that attention into a follower who comes back.

HookLab did not disappoint.
Who’s down for a YouTube knowledge challenge? (Very difficult!)
I’ve created an expert-level YouTube retention data quiz to see who here knows the most about YouTube’s retention. Just a heads-up, this quiz is incredibly difficult and getting 40 out of 40 questions correct will be hard.

What’s the best hook length for a 20 minute YouTube video?
15 seconds?
30 seconds?
1 minute?
5 minutes?
Tons of “YouTube Gurus” are out there promoting their own SaaS products.
The difference between Hooklab and their products? Hooklab is THE ONLY product on the market that gives you analytics on PRE PUBLISHED CONTENT. Every competitor focuses on analytics AFTER your video is posted, and by then, your video could’ve already flopped.
Hooklab doesn’t give you generic ai bullshit responses. It literally treats every upload as if you spent top dollar for coaching with a trusted YouTube Strategist, and the replies and fixes it gives you is worth every cent.
If you struggle with short-form or long-form content, then give it a try, make the changes, and see for yourself.
You get a free analysis every week, so what’s the harm in trying it?
